Team News

Trabzonspor
Samsunspor
  • Mislav Orsic has suffered a cruciate ligament rupture and will not be available until late February.
  • Rayyan Baniya is set to deputise for the injured Stefano Denswil.
  • Batista Mendy will start in midfield as Abdulkadir Omur is also injured, meaning Filip Benkovic will partner Baniya at the back.
  • Trezeguet (Egypt) and Nicolas Pepe (Ivory Coast) have travelled to the AFCON 2023 with their respective teams. Edin Visca and Taxiarchis Fountas are likely to start on the wings.
  • Goktan Gurpuz and Umut Bozok, neither of whom were expected to start here, are also sidelined with injury.
  • Nanu (Guinea-Bisau), Olivier Nitcham (Cameroon), and Kingsley Schindler (Ghana) are all away on international duty. So, Haluk Tan and Landry Dimata will start.
  • Bedirhan Cetin and Gaeten Laura, neither of whom were expected to start here, are on the injury list.

Prediction

  • Trabzonspor got an important away win beating Ankaragucu 1-0 last time out. This was a very untypical performance for an Avci team as most of their chances came from counter-attacks. The experienced manager was also justifiably furious at how many clear chances they conceded despite keeping a clean sheet.
  • Samsunspor were also 1-0 winners against Karagumruk last time out. They fully deserved their win and showed their recent revival in form was not a fluke but result of hard-work.
  • Samsun are facing a Trabzon side that has dropped point in their last two games and are missing key names due to injury and AFCON. However, their away form has also been far from impressive and the hosts are likely to be winners of the Black Sea derby, albeit narrowly.
