Prediction

  • Ankaragucu caused a major upset beating Gaziantep 1-0 last time out. They played very aggressively especially at moments when Gaziantep could transition and create counter-attacking opportunities and thereby did not concede any serious chances. Against Besiktas, a team that controls possession in the final third but is struggling at the back, they will defend very deep and look for counter-attacking opportunities.
  • Besiktas got their second win under Calimbay beating Samsunspor 2-1 last time out. Barring a 20-minute patch in the first half, they controlled the game and were deserved winners in the end. Then, at home, they were thrashed 5-0 by Brugge in the UEFA Conference League tie. Embarrassing though the result was, it was not surprising at all considering how Black Eagles had already given up their European campaign weeks ago.
  • This a tense fixture as the two teams have historically not gotten along well. Besiktas' defence is crippled with injuries, but there is a dynamism to this side that appeared with the hiring of Calimbay. The Black Eagles are likely to get their third win in a row, albeit a very narrow and hard-fought one.
