Team News

St. Mirren
St. Johnstone
  • Stephen Robinson named two changes to the St Mirren side that was knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Celtic as the Hoops won 2-0 in Paisley, before they fell to a sole-goal defeat away at Livingston in the Scottish Premiership last weekend.
  • Charles Dunne accompanied Marcus Fraser and Alex Gogic in the Buddies' back three once again. Kwon Hyeok-kyu didn't feature against his parent club Celtic but took Keanu Baccus' place in midfield to partner Caolan Boyd-Munce.
  • Scott Tanser and Elvis Bwomono continued at left wing-back and right wing-back respectively. Greg Kiltie supported Mikael Mandron and James Scott, replacing Lewis Jamieson, in the Saints' attack.
  • St Johnstone boss Craig Levein named five changes to the Saints side that lost their midweek match at McDiarmid Park 1-0 to Hearts, before a 2-1 defeat to Dundee at Dens Park on Sunday.
  • Ryan McGowan returned to the Saints' back three, joining club captain Liam Gordon and Andy Considine, at Kerr Smith's expense. Luke Robinson and David Keltjens continued at left wing-back and right wing-back respectively.
  • Dan Phillips returned in the middle of the park, taking Oludare Olufunwa's place in the team. Connor Smith started alongside Matt Smith, in support of Adama Sidibeh in attack as Benjamin Kimpioka dropped onto the bench.

Prediction

  • Fifth-placed St Mirren host a St Johnstone side sat in tenth, both teams looking to get back to winning ways in the Scottish Premiership this weekend.
  • St Mirren spurned a huge chance to win three consecutive away games in the top tier for the first time since May 2007, after a shock 1-0 loss to Livingston upon their return to league duty. The Buddies haven't beaten Livi in back-to-back league meetings since November 2020, and failed to take advantage of the side sat bottom of the Scottish Premiership pile last Saturday afternoon.
  • St Johnstone went four matches at McDiarmid Park without a Scottish Premiership victory for the second time this season, following a defeat to new league leaders Rangers in Perth on Sunday. Saints are one of four teams to have only won one league match away from home this season, away to Ross County at the start of the month, and would love to clinch a second this weekend.
  • St Mirren swept aside St Johnstone with a 4-0 victory in Paisley back in October, yet St Johnstone got their revenge in Perth in December, and the Buddies have been strong at home this season so should have too much this weekend.
