- Interim Aberdeen boss Neil Warnock made one change from the Dons' draw as they were held at home by Hibernian in a 2-2 stalemate the weekend before last, before they lost 2-0 to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Saturday afternoon.
- Richard Jensen entered the Dons defence after illness, as they resorted to a back four. He joined Nicky Devlin at right-back, Stefan Gartenmann in the centre and Jack MacKenzie at left-back.
- Graeme Shinnie and Connor Barron continued in midfield but were joined by Dante Polvara as opposed to Leighton Clarkson. Jamie McGrath supported Bojan Miovski and Duk in the Aberdeen attack.
- St Johnstone boss Craig Levein named three changes to the Saints side that lost 3-0 to Rangers at McDiarmid Park the weekend before last, before a 2-0 defeat to St Mirren in Paisley at the weekend.
- Ryan McGowan dropped out of the Saints' back three, as Kerr Smith joined club captain Liam Gordon and Andy Considine. Luke Robinson continued at left wing-back but Tony Gallacher replaced David Keltjens at right wing-back.
- Dan Phillips sat in midfield, with Matt Smith and Graham Carey looking to get further forward in support of two strikers. Adama Sidibeh kept his place but was joined by Nicky Clark - coming in for Connor Smith - who made his second Saints start in three months.
