Team News

Hearts
Motherwell
  • Hearts boss Steven Naismith made three changes after the Jambos snuck past St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park last midweek 1-0, before advancing into the Scottish Cup quarter-final with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Airdrie on Sunday.
  • Craig Gordon came in between the sticks, replacing Zander Clark, as Hearts took on the Scottish Championship outfit in Lanarkshire. Craig Halkett replaced Frankie Kent in the back four in front of him.
  • Jorge Grant started instead of Scott Fraser to join Alan Forrest and Kenneth Vargas, who put Hearts two to the good early on, in support of Lawrence Shankland - who bagged a brace at the weekend - up front.
  • Stuart Kettlewell named two changes to the Motherwell team that was knocked out of the Scottish Cup after losing 2-1 to Scottish Championship side Greenock Morton, before their mental midweek match against Aberdeen ended 3-3.
  • Adam Devine started at right wing-back, firing the Well into a three goal lead which they later went on to blow. Stephen O'Donnell was sat amongst the substitutes on Wednesday night at Pittodrie.
  • Andy Halliday is on loan from Hearts so shouldn't be able to feature against his parent club. Lennon Miller dropped out of the Motherwell midfield as Jack Vale, who grabbed a consolation against Morton, replaced him to join Theo Bair up front.

Prediction

  • Hearts have lost to Motherwell at Tynecastle already this season, while the Well lost to the Jambos at Fir Park so perhaps anything is possible in their third Scottish Premiership meeting this season.
  • The Jambos advanced into the Scottish Cup quarter-finals, where they'll take on Greenock Morton who dumped Motherwell out of Scotland's premier cup competition, after a professional performance and a quick start saw them annihilate Airdrie early on at the weekend. Hearts have won 10 of their 11 matches in all competitions since their last loss, away to Aberdeen at the start of December.
  • Motherwell spurned a golden opportunity to record back-to-back Scottish Premiership victories for the first time since August and September, the second of those coming against this weekend's opponents at Tynecastle, as Aberdeen battled back from three goals down to ensure a share of the spoils in a mental midweek match. Sat in seventh, a top-six spot is achievable if the Well want it and can find consistency.
  • Despite Motherwell's antics earlier on in the season at Tynecastle, Hearts' form is strong and they'll fancy their chances of grabbing another three precious Premiership points.
