Team News

Motherwell
Kilmarnock
  • Stuart Kettlewell named just one change to the Motherwell team that advanced in the Scottish Cup courtesy of a 3-1 win over Alloa Athletic at Fir Park, as they drew with St Johnstone 1-1 in Perth last weekend.
  • Andy Halliday, on loan from Hearts, made his first start for the Steelmen replacing fellow January addition Adam Montgomery who is injured. Lennon Miller came off the bench, making his first league appearance since November.
  • Sam Nicholson came off the bench to make his Motherwell debut. Oli Shaw has returned to Barnsley. Dan Casey, Callum Slattery and Jon Obika are the Well's current absentees through injury.
  • Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes named one change to the Killie team that cruised past Dundee 2-0 in the Scottish Cup, before they blew a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Hibernian at Rugby Park on Saturday afternoon.
  • The only alteration saw Corrie Ndaba, who was sent off against the Hibees and will therefore miss the Motherwell match, replace Liam Polworth as Killie resorted to a back four.
  • January arrival James Balagizi, on loan from Liverpool, was sat among the substitutes on Saturday. Greg Stewart was serving a suspension from his time in India, so was unavailable for the Hibs game but could be in line to feature here.

Prediction

  • 11 points separate Motherwell in ninth, with Kilmarnock in fourth, with Killie having played a game more than the Well so far in the Scottish Premiership this season.
  • The Well ended their long wait for a win against Livingston in the last week of December, but have now drawn back-to-back games away to Hibernian - before the winter break - and St Johnstone. Ross County currently occupy the relegation playoff place. The Steelmen are just a few points clear of them heading into the weekend, so a win would be welcomed with open arms.
  • Kilmarnock will be disappointed with their draw at the weekend, falling 10 points behind Hearts after the Jambos beat Aberdeen in Edinburgh, as they were cruising before collapsing against Hibs at Rugby Park. Regardless of what happens this Saturday, Killie will be sat in fourth spot, but their quest for a top-six spot or greater would be aided by a third away league win this season.
  • Motherwell have already beaten Killie at Fir Park this season, meanwhile Kilmarnock beat the Well at Rugby Park. The visitors haven't won in three consecutive league games and the hosts aren't in the best of fettle either so a draw wouldn't be a big surprise this Saturday.
