Team News

Hibernian
Rangers
  • Hibs boss Nick Montgomery named four changes to the Hibernian team that were held at home by Motherwell in their last league game, before they progressed in the Scottish Cup thanks to a sole-goal success away to Forfar Athletic.
  • Lewis Stevenson replaced Jordan Obita to start on Saturday afternoon at Station Park, joining Rory Whittaker, Will Fish and Paul Hanlon in the Hibs back four. Jimmy Jeggo replaced Dylan Levitt to accompany Joe Newell in the middle of the park.
  • Rudi Molotnikov replaced Dylan Vente to join Élie Youan - who bagged a brace against the Well - and Jair Tavares in support of lone striker Christian Doidge who netted what proved the winning goal against the League 2 outfit at the weekend.
  • Rangers manager Philippe Clement named three changes from the Gers team that clinched a 3-1 victory over Kilmarnock in their last league match, before they recorded a 4-1 win against Dumbarton in the Scottish Cup at the weekend.
  • Robby McCrorie replaced Jack Butland between the sticks, behind an unchanged back four. Nicolas Raskin took Kieran Dowell's spot, joining John Lundstram and Todd Cantwell in the midfield trio against the Sons on Saturday evening.
  • Abdallah Sima is unavailable, due to participation in the African Cup of Nations with Senegal, so Rabbi Matondo accompanied Ross McCausland in support of lone striker Cyriel Dessers against their League 2 opposition.

Prediction

  • Both Hibernian and Rangers advanced into the fifth round of the Scottish Cup, thanks to victories over sides in the fourth tier of Scottish football, ahead of their midweek meeting at Easter Road.
  • The Hibees are winless in three Scottish Premiership matches, only winning one of their last five league games, so were pleased to swerve a potential banana skin against Forfar Athletic on Saturday. Hibernian have slipped to sixth spot in the standings, but are well aware on a few sides below them having games in hand so will want to return to winning ways on league duty here.
  • But they're up against a Rangers team who kept themselves ticking over with a few friendly matches in the winter break and have only lost one of their last 13 Scottish Premiership matches. That run included a 4-0 thumping of Hibs at Ibrox, back in October, as they look to close the gap on league leaders Celtic. Win this and their other game in hand, and they'd go within two points of top spot.
  • Hibs may feel the brunt of their international absentees, against a Rangers side that have been ruthless on league duty since their managerial change was made back in September.
