Team News

Celtic
Ross County
  • Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers named two changes to the Celts side that clinched a 3-0 win over St Mirren in Paisley in their last league match, before blowing away Highland League opponents Buckie Thistle 5-0 in the Scottish Cup on Sunday.
  • Joe Hart continued in goal with Alastair Johnston, Liam Scales, Maik Nawrocki and Greg Taylor making up an unchanged back four. Club captain Callum McGregor made way for Odin Holm to accompany Matt O'Riley and Paulo Bernardo in midfield.
  • Liel Abada made his first Celtic start since September, joining Luis Palma and Kyogo Furuhashi - both of whom scored against the fifth-tier outfit - in the Hoops' front three. Daizen Maeda is away at the Asian Cup with Japan so is unavailable.
  • Ross County boss Derek Adams named five changes to the Staggies side that lost 3-0 at home to Aberdeen before it became back-to-back Dingwall defeats by that scoreline as Championship side Partick Thistle knocked them out of the Scottish Cup.
  • Fulham loanee George Wickens started between the sticks at Ross Laidlaw's expense. Ryan Leak was the only defender to keep his place as James Brown, club captain Jack Baldwin and now departed Ben Purrington made way.
  • Connor Randall, Will Nightingale and George Harmon came into the County backline to start. Eli King, who has arrived on loan from Cardiff City, replaced Jordan White as the Staggies opted to start Simon Murray as a sole striker.

Prediction

  • Ross County were one of three Scottish Premiership teams to be eliminated in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup, meanwhile Celtic were riding down easy street as they look to defend the trophy.
  • The Celts saw off a side from the Highlands in the Scottish Cup and they'll be hoping that's the case as they return to league duty this weekend. Losing back-to-back league games last month was a disaster for the reigning champions. But they've responded superbly with four straight victories, the most important of which was on derby day against Rangers, and are in search of a fifth.
  • County's saving grace is the fact that St Johnstone and Motherwell play one another on Saturday, given they are firmly up against it in this one against the all-firing league leaders. Dumped out of the Scottish Cup and winless in four Scottish Premiership games, the Staggies are firmly embroiled in a basement battle and will want to remain in touching distance of their relegation rivals.
  • Celtic are beginning to look back to their best and, despite the Staggies scoring twice at Parkhead on their last visit, should prove too strong for a relegation-threatened Ross County in this one.
