Team News

Motherwell
Aberdeen
  • Stuart Kettlewell named one enforced change after Motherwell fell to a 2-0 loss to Livingston in West Lothian prior to the international break, before a crazy 3-3 draw with Ross County at Fir Park on Saturday afternoon.
  • Paul McGinn continued to accompany Bevis Mugabi and Dan Casey in the Well's back three in front of goalkeeper Liam Kelly. Stephen O'Donnell and Brodie Spencer continued at right and left wing-back respectively.
  • Lennon Miller missed the match against Ross County after being sent off against Livi. A shape change saw Oli Shaw partner Theo Bair up front, supported by Callum Slattery, Harry Paton and Blair Spittal in midfield.
  • Aberdeen boss Barry Robson named one change to the Dons team that suffered late European heartbreak on Thursday night, as they lost 3-2 to PAOK at Pittodrie, before a 2-0 defeat to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Sunday afternoon.
  • Despite PAOK's late flurry of goals in the north east, the back three all kept their places with Jack MacKenzie and Nicky Devlin at left wing-back and right wing-back respectively.
  • The second goalscorer against the Greek outfit, Dante Polvara, made way for Duk to accompany Bojan Miovski - the Dons' first goalscorer on Thursday night - in attack away to Killie.

Prediction

  • Hosts Motherwell are ahead of visitors Aberdeen by two points heading into the Scottish Premiership's midweek matches.
  • Motherwell remain in sixth, despite a run of five league games without a victory. The Steelmen ultimately stopped the rot against Ross County, having lost their last four Scottish Premiership matches heading into that game, but two late goals salvaged a point when they perhaps should have been aiming for all three. Aberdeen are in no great form, so the Well should want a win here.
  • Aberdeen are struggling to balance continental and domestic football, with the Dons currently languishing in ninth spot. They have a Scottish League Cup semi-final on the horizon this weekend, so will want to enter that clash with Hibs at Hampden in high spirits. Having won just one of their last four matches in all competitions, this is a great game to try and get back to winning ways.
  • Motherwell have lost their last two matches against Aberdeen, but beat the Dons at Pittodrie last season. Neither side is in outstanding form here, but the visitors lost on their travels last time out and the hosts netted three at the weekend so home advantage may see the Steelmen sneak this one.
