Team News

Aberdeen
Kilmarnock
  • Aberdeen boss Barry Robson named eight changes to the Dons team that fought back to claim a 2-2 draw with HJK Helsinki in Finland in their Europa Conference League encounter, before a 2-0 defeat at Easter Road to Hibernian on Sunday.
  • Kelle Roos in goal, along with Slobodan Rubezic and Richard Jensen at the back retained their places. Stefan Gartenmann joined them in the Dons defence, with Nicky Devlin and James McGarry at right wing-back and left wing-back respectively.
  • Graeme Shinnie, Leighton Clarkson and Jamie McGrath came into the middle of the park, behind Bojan Miovski and Ester Sokler who were chosen to lead the line in Aberdeen's attack.
  • Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes named three changes to the Killie team that were held in the Highlands in a goalless draw with Ross County, before they slumped to a home defeat to Hearts with a sole goal proving the difference.
  • Stuart Findlay, Robbie Deas and Lewis Mayo continued in defence. Corrie Ndaba replaced Joe Wright, to start at left wing-back with Danny Armstrong on the right. Brad Lyons came back into midfield, accompanying Liam Donnelly and David Watson.
  • Rory McKenzie and Matty Kennedy dropped out of the starting eleven and onto the substitutes bench. The only other alteration saw club captain Kyle Vassell come in to partner Marley Watkins up front.

Prediction

  • Four points separate an Aberdeen team sat in tenth and seventh-placed Kilmarnock, before the midweek matches in the Scottish Premiership.
  • After falling to defeat to Hibernian in Edinburgh on Sunday, it was more domestic dismay for the Dons after giving a decent account of themselves in Helsinki on the continent. Aberdeen have so far struggled to balance domestic and continental football but are more accustomed to playing twice in a week than Kilmarnock are. This is a great chance to claim a much-needed league win.
  • Kilmarnock fell to just a second home defeat of the season so far, as Hearts clinched their second victory at Rugby Park in the current campaign. St Johnstone and Killie are the only two teams who are yet to claim three points on the road this season and, having had such an affiliation with Aberdeen, Derek McInnes would love nothing more than to claim a first away day victory here.
  • When playing in Europe, Aberdeen have given a good account of themselves in midweek matches so will want to take advantage of a Kilmarnock team that can't find a winning remedy away from home in this one.
