Team News

Hearts
Rangers
  • Hearts boss Steven Naismith made two changes after the Jambos clinched a sole goal success against St Johnstone at Tynecastle, before another 1-0 win was enough against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Saturday afternoon.
  • Kye Rowles, Frankie Kent and Stephen Kingsley continued as the Jambos' back three. Alex Cochrane started at left wing-back with Yutaro Oda taking Alan Forrest's place at right wing-back.
  • The only other alteration was Alex Lowry, who is ineligible to take on his parent club here, making way for Calem Nieuwenhof in midfield to join Beni Baningime and Jorge Grant. Liam Boyce and Lawrence Shankland continued in attack.
  • Rangers manager Philippe Clement named five changes from the team that was held at home by Aris Limassol in a 1-1 draw in their Europa League encounter last Thursday night, before they bounced back with a 2-0 success against St Mirren.
  • The previously suspended Connor Goldson and ineligible Leon Balogun came back into the heart of the Gers defence, replacing John Souttar and Ben Davies. Tom Lawrence joined John Lundstram in midfield, at Jose Cifuentes' expense.
  • Ross McCausland started on the right-hand side, after netting the Gers' equaliser against Aris, with Todd Cantwell moving centrally as Sam Lammers dropped onto the bench. Cyriel Dessers took Danilo's place to lead the line for Rangers on Sunday.

Prediction

  • Two of the top three go toe-to-toe at Tynecastle, as Hearts host Rangers in one of the four Scottish Premiership fixtures on Wednesday night.
  • The Jambos have leapfrogged St Mirren into third spot after four consecutive Scottish Premiership victories for the first time since 2018, where they opened the 18/19 campaign with five wins from as many matches. Three clean sheets in that quartet highlight the hosts' defensive strength, but five goals in four games have only just proven enough to pick up 12 points from the last potential 12.
  • The Gers head through east hopeful that they can claim a third win against Hearts in all competitions this season. They left it late at Ibrox in the reverse league fixture, before a comprehensive victory at Hampden to secure their passage to the League Cup final. With Celtic hosting Hibs in Glasgow, they'll be hoping to claim three points in Edinburgh, whilst cheering on the other capital club.
  • Hearts have scored in both games against Rangers this season, but the Gers have found a way to get the better of the Jambos and will hope it's a case of third-time lucky in midweek.
