Team News

Hibernian
Aberdeen
  • Nick Montgomery named an unchanged Hibernian team after the Hibees picked up a 1-0 win over Kilmarnock at Easter Road before the international break, as they clinched a second successive league win given they beat Dundee 2-1.
  • Lewis Miller netted what proved the winning goal, shortly before he was sent off at Dens Park last Saturday. Paul Hanlon replaced him in Dundee, with Will Fish shifting out to right-back so perhaps that'll be the case here again.
  • Jair Tavares scored the opener last weekend, joining Joe Newell, Dylan Levitt and Josh Campbell in midfield. Dylan Vente continued to be partnered by Martin Boyle in attack.
  • Aberdeen boss Barry Robson named seven changes to the Dons team that drew 1-1 with Rangers at Pittodrie on Sunday, as they fought back to claim a 2-2 draw with HJK Helsinki in Finland in their Europa Conference League encounter.
  • Angus MacDonald, who netted the equaliser for Aberdeen on Thursday night, replaced Stefan Gartenmann in the Dons defence. Jack Milne took Nicky Devlin's spot at right wing-back, with Jonny Hayes captaining the side at left wing-back.
  • Graeme Shinnie, Leighton Clarkson and Jamie McGrath all dropped out of midfield, as did Bojan Miovski and Ester Sokler up front. In came Connor Barron, Dante Polvara, Pape Gueye and Duk who scored the first Aberdeen goal.

Prediction

  • Two of last season's top five meet at Easter Road, with Hibernian hosting Aberdeen in one of three Scottish Premiership matches on Sunday.
  • The Hibees enter this match unbeaten in five league games, drawing three of those but winning back-to-back Scottish Premiership matches. A victory at home last time out, against a Kilmarnock team that suffer some sort of travel sickness, was succeeded by an impressive win at Dens Park against a Dundee team who rarely lose at home. Hibs will look to make it three on the spin here.
  • Aberdeen are languishing in the bottom half of the Scottish Premiership table despite giving a good account of themselves on the continent once again. The Dons will be disappointed that they were two goals down to Helsinki but the Finland fightback should stand them in good stead. However, they've won just once at the weekend after a European midweek match so far this season.
  • Aberdeen knocked Hibs out of the League Cup with a semi-final success at Hampden, but lost to the Hibees at Pittodrie in September. Just like the 2-0 defeat, they played in Europe on the Thursday so Hibernian will hope that the Dons are suffering a European hangover upon their meeting in the capital.
