Team News

Ross County
Rangers
  • Malky Mackay named just one enforced change to the Staggies side which claimed a 2-0 win over St Johnstone in Dingwall before eventually advancing in the Scottish League Cup thanks to a 4-3 victory against Airdrie after extra time.
  • County named an unchanged back four of George Harmon, Ryan Leak, Jack Baldwin and James Brown in front of Ross Laidlaw in goal. Josh Sims, Victor Loturi and Connor Randall continued in midfield with Simon Murray and Jordan White up front.
  • The only alteration saw the injured Yan Dhanda drop out, for Kyle Turner to take his place in the topsy-turvy clash with their Championship opponents. Shortly after coming on in their last league game, the former Partick Thistle midfielder scored against Saints.
  • Rangers manager Michael Beale named seven changes from the Gers side that squeezed past Greenock Morton 2-1 in the Scottish League Cup, before they were held at home in a 2-2 draw against PSV Eindhoven at Ibrox on Tuesday.
  • Jack Butland kept his place between the sticks for their Champions League playoff first leg. Connor Goldson, Jose Cifuentes and Cyriel Dessers were the only outfield players who played against both the Ton and PSV in their midweek match.
  • James Tavernier, John Souttar, Borna Barisic, Ryan Jack, Nicolas Raskin, Todd Cantwell and Abdallah Sima - who fired Rangers ahead on Tuesday - replaced Dujon Sterling, Leon Balogun, Johnly Yfeko, John Lundstram, Kieran Dowell, Sam Lammers and Rabbi Matondo - who also put Rangers in front in midweek - respectively.

Prediction

  • Both Ross County and Rangers have lost one and won one of their opening two Scottish Premiership matches this season.
  • There was no shame in County losing away to reigning champions Celtic, successfully responding with a comfortable 2-0 win against St Johnstone before a crazy topsy-turvy League Cup tie against Airdrie. The Staggies know that they'll have to tighten up defensively - after leaking three goals to a side in the division below - taking on one of the better teams in the division here.
  • Rangers are looking to gather momentum, fighting on both continental and domestic fronts. Like last season, they were held at home by Dutch outfit PSV so head to the Netherlands needing to beat their opponents to qualify for the Champions League. With the first Old Firm of the campaign round the corner, they'll want to enter that showdown against Celtic at Ibrox full of confidence.
  • The Gers won all three league meetings between the two teams last year, including a 1-0 victory in the Highlands, and they'll look to find a way to squeeze past the Staggies in this one.
