Team News

Atletico
Rayo Vallecano
  • Reinildo played his first game back from injury & AFCON duties against Valencia on Sunday evening. He was greatly applauded by fans and should most definitely fits Simeone's possession driven style.
  • Memphis Depay scored in that game, too. He could get a start in the midweek to give Alvaro Morata a deserved rest.
  • Pathe Ciss could feature in midfield only 48 hours after Senegals emotional, penalty shoot-out exit from AFCON on Monday night.
  • Sergio Camello could start up front given the lacklustre performances of his striking peers of recent.

Prediction

  • Atletico Madrid host a rather flat Rayo Vallecano in a mid-week Madrid derby that should have no problems entertaining, especially if the reverse fixture has anything to do with it. A Simeone masterclass and a 7-0 drubbing at the Vallecas was the highest winning margin in the league so far.
  • Rayo have significantly stagnated in recent weeks, now sitting in 13th place, with potential to drop further if Villarreal continue their favourable form behind them.
  • The visitors have not beaten Atleti in over 15 years and it doesn't look like a shock result is on the cards here, either.
