Team News

Newcastle
Chelsea
  • Newcastle manager Eddie Howe could be without as many as 11 players for the visit of Chelsea on Saturday.
  • Striker Callum Wilson looks set to miss a number of weeks with a thigh issue, but the Magpies will be boosted by the imminent return of Alexander Isak.
  • Also ruled out here are Harvey Barnes, Sven Botman, Elliot Andersen, Jacob Murphy, Matt Targett and Dan Burn.
  • Lewis Hall, who is on loan from Chelsea, is ineligible to play here.
  • Miguel Almiron was unable to play a part for Paraguay over the international break, and remains a doubt here.
  • Chelsea's list of absentees features no fewer than eight players, but summer signings Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia both look set to make a full return from injury in the coming week.
  • Levi Colwill could also return here, having missed international duty with England due to a shoulder injury.
  • Mauricio Pochettino could look to field the same XI that battled to an impressive point against Manchester City two weeks ago.

Prediction

  • Newcastle head into this one off the back of two consecutive defeats before the international break, against Borussia Dortmund and Bournemouth.
  • Eddie Howe's side, however, remain in strong home form, and ended Arsenal's unbeaten start to the season in their last match at St James' Park.
  • Chelsea will head into this one brimming with confidence after entertaining encounters with Tottenham and Manchester City before the break, having scored four goals in both matches.
  • Mauricio Pochettino's side will kick off in the north-east four points behind their opponents, but should see this as a huge chance to move up the table, particularly with the players missing for the home side.
  • The hosts came out on top when these sides met at St James' Park just over a year ago, but the points could be shared this time around.

  • Cucurella should have remained on the right or be benched, Why fix the defence if it's not broken? Poch needs to know selection of players and to the sort of team, backline shouldn't have been changed, clearly Ugochukwu was a needless buy, dude is even confused on which country to play for, They all need therapy
