Team News

Wales
Ukraine
  • Joe Morrell is available following suspension, but it would be a surprise if he were to start here.
  • Joe Allen and Aaron Ramsey should start in midfield after sitting out the Nations League defeat in Poland in midweek.
  • Ben Davies, Joe Rodon and Gareth Bale are also expected to start here.
  • Despite being at fault for Calum McGregor's goal to set up a nervy finish in midweek, Heorhii Bushchan should keep his spot between the sticks.
  • It would be a shock if Oleksandr Petrakov were to make any changes for Sunday's game at Wales.

Prediction

  • Wales fell to a 2-1 Nations League defeat in midweek, but were without five key players for the loss with Rob Page saving the likes of Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey for Sunday's massive game against Ukraine.
  • Ukraine didn't disappoint in their first competitive game this year as they secured a 3-1 win over Scotland in their World Cup playoff game. This will be the first competitive meeting between the pair since 2001.
  • Ukraine went through qualification unbeaten, albeit drawing six of eight games, and while they were superb at Scotland on Wednesday, Wales' returning stars means the Dragons may have too much for the visitors on Sunday.

  • Ukraine Win like they did against Scotland.

  • @Rensen True. Ukraine will win. @2.85

  • Ukraine for sure.i told already the odds for ukraine is to suspicious.this is all politics

  • @Dickisonfire99 Where do you get this stupid thing from? Ukraine has excellent players, played well and before the war. Now they do not mind playing outside the home because they can count on support everywhere. It is a shame to say such nonsense.

  • @Dickisonfire99 lol

  • Double chance: 1X @1.40

  • Ampadu and Roberts who I was most worried about were actually two of the best outfield players and very solid. Ben Davies got the official man of the match but Hennessey gave an outstanding performance in goal - a diving one handed save in the second half being particularly impressive. Joe Allen covered the danger areas really well and Neco Williams provided some much needed spark. Johnson wasn't on long but looked dangerous. Ramsey and Bale didn't have their best matched for Wales. Ramsey should really have done better with his chance to make it 2-0 and Bale must have been frustrated to see Wales get another free kick opportunity after he'd been subbed off.

  • I was lucky enough to be in the stadium and the singing was amazing as it was for the matches against Austria and Belarus. Ukraine had a lot of shots and dominated midfield for much of the match. The own goal header by Yarmolenko was fortunate for Wales but reflects the fear established by Bale's free kicks and a lack of faith in Bushchan. Wales held their nerve and got the result.

  • As Ukraine were warming up, Mudryk stood out and not just because of his hair colour. He looked very skillful. I'm glad he only got 20 minutes to make an impact.

  • I do feel a bit sorry for Ukraine. мир

  • What an amazing result for Wales: back in the World Cup after 64 years and several painful disappointments (e.g. 1977, 1993, 2003)! TalkSport, Chris Waddle, and several other "experts" said it would never happen.

  • Wales are now unbeaten at home in 19 games with only seven goals conceded. :)

  • Bale to run his socks off for free golf where ever he goes

  • low scoring match, both scared to lose. 1-0 either way

  • Over 1.5

  • Hopefully, Ampadu and Moore won't get sent off for breathing too hard. :/

  • Wales have an excellent home record and all their key outfield players available (e.g . Bale, Ramsey, Davies, Allen, Williams, Moore). However, Ukraine played really well against Scotland and arguably have the momentum. It could go either way. I wouldn't be surprised if there were some very end to end periods of play, at least one penalty, and over 2.5 goals.... I'm obviously biased but... Wales 3-2 Ukraine

  • Next team to bend over for Ukraine

  • @Terry is it? And which team was the first? Surely you don't mean Scotland, who gave their all against Ukraine, yet it wasn't enough, because Ukraine just was better. Or will you accuse every team who'll lose against Ukraine in next year or two of "bending over"? Or do you honestly think that for Welsh players supporting Ukraine is more important than playing in the world cup?

  • @Terry stop envying bro, it's not the first time Ukraine qualifies for world cup, u will be sad all time LOL
