Team News

Fenerbahce
Hatayspor
  • As Filip Novak is injured and Ferdi Kadioglu suspended, manager Ismail Kartal is considering using Attila Szalai as a make-shift left-back.
  • As Serdar Aziz missed the midweek Europa Conference League tie with an injury, Marcel Tisserand is likely to start alongside Kim Min-Jae at the heart of defence.
  • Miguel Silva and Dimitrios Pelkas are likely to deputise for the injured Luiz Gustavo and Irfan Can Kahveci respectively.
  • Mesut Ozil has started training with the rest of the squad, but Kartal has doubts about his match fitness. So, he is not expected to be in the starting lineup here.
  • Fatih Kurucuk is suspended and Simon Falette is carrying a knock. The latter will be assessed prior to kick off. If deemed unfit, Isaac Sackey will feature as a make-shift centre-back.
  • Adama Nass Traore will also be assessed prior to kick off. If he can't feature, Onur Ergun will start.
  • Burak Camoglu, who wasn't expected to start against Fenerbahce, is also injured.

Prediction

  • Fenerbahce recorded an important away victory, beating Giresunspor 2-1 last time out. They were dynamic and effective going forward, but struggled at the back. Then they were beaten 3-2 at home by Slavia Prague in the midweek Europa Conference League tie. Once again, their defending was abysmal and once again they showed no signs of tactical discipline whatsoever. Kartal was hired as a stop-gap measure, but this experiment is simply not working. We are likely to see glimpses of positive attacking football here, but Fenerbahce's defence will be tested over and over again.
  • Hatayspor went back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Goztepe last time out. After a three-week break, the Hatayspor of old was back, as Erdogan's side created chance after chance against the in-form Izmir side. They did concede, but gave away very few chances, which delighted the young manager. Expect them to press aggressively high up the pitch to force error-prone Fenerbahce defence to commit mistakes.
  • Hatayspor's playing style will trouble Fenerbahce. There is potential for a major upset here.
