Team News
Man City
Man Utd
- Both Jack Grealish and Gabriel Jesus have been battling injuries of late but both started Manchester City's 2-0 win over Peterborough in midweek to bolster their offensive options.
- Raheem Sterling has only scored in one of his last seven in the Premier League and has an awful record against Manchester United with no goals in 23 career encounters. He could drop to the bench here.
- Ruben Dias has been ruled out for four to six weeks with a hamstring injury in a big blow for the home side. John Stones and Aymeric Laporte will start at the back as a result. Nathan Ake is also unavailable.
- Cristiano Ronaldo was not pictured with the Manchester United squad on Saturday night leading to suggestions he won't play at the Etihad.
- Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane and Edinson Cavani were also among the players missing for United on the eve of the derby.
- Harry Maguire will return to the starting XI after being rested in last weekend's 0-0 draw with Watford.
- Bruno Fernandes may be asked to play a new, false nine role for United with Ronaldo and Cavani both potentially missing.
- Moving Fernandes into the front three would enable Ralf Rangnick to start one of Fred or Nemanja Matic in midfield for greater defensive balance.
- Diogo Dalot hasn't started any of United's last three and faces renewed competition from Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back.
- Anthony Elanga deserves to start over Marcus Rashford on form but it wouldn't surprise if Rangnick went with the latter on Sunday.
Lol at all the United fans predicting their side to win! You're getting bummed.
It would be a highscoring game. Over 4.5 goals with utd winning the match
@MickeyClark So close, but yet so far
Silent comments section. It means a good day for Man City haha.
@nikoanzai Your in-form defender out because of COVID, 2 weeks after even mask restriction got removed. You have to play with Maguire and he runs circus whole game there, gifting goals. Both of your strikers are out, hoping that youngsters will do something. Lingard completely useless, 5 players circling Rashford and no other United player seen on the screen. United players lost their desires after second goal already despite pressing very well so what you were expecting to read, happy?
@Byakuya Varane wouldn't have made much difference, and Utd would have played Maguire even if Varane was fit to play. Ronaldo would arguably have held Utd back ,and likely hindered them even further. Cavani was the only real miss but Utd wouldn't have been able to provide him the service. Understandable key players missing but 2 of them are 35+ and would no way have kept up with City's tempo. Either way, I dont think the result would have been any different.
@Jonnyh140109 Varane was amongst nominees for player of the month for United, he would definitely make a difference considering defensive mistakes affected the whole team's performance. Shaw also had COVID, Telles is better only offensively. United created a few chances in the first half but missed a finisher which would apply both for Ronaldo and Cavani, then basically gave up rather than keeping up with the tempo as some players weren't even running anymore so it could be a totally different game.
@Byakuya I mean comments section is silent each and every time Man City wins. Man Utd is irrelevant.
Now both Arsenal and Spurs have 3 games in hand compared to United, there's a real possibility United will finish 6th, SIUUU!
3-0
Who else is hoping not to see FairFootballFan here after the match? Boy that dude must be praying haaard before the game.
1-1
lol
Unstoppable De Bruyne!! also, not an error lead to goal from Lindeloof in the 2nd goal? It's weird.
@dib it was 2 lucky goals even timo Werner would have scored
@Frank1234 2 lucky goals ? Did you even watch the game? 1st one, ball played straight to KDB's feet in the box. Simple goal, not lucky. 2nd one, It was a good but lucky save by DDG, Foden should have scored when he went through, City players followed up, the ball was likely to find a City player if Utd didn't clear it. You could argue it was lucky to fall perfect for KDB, but I would argue Utd were lucky that Foden didn't put it away in the first instance.
@Frank1234 What do you mean "even"? Werner is a good striker.
2-0, 3-1
Ronaldo Ghosting in Big Matches. Last time Liverpool gave 5-0 ...
@SagorSrkian oh that's why he is not playing right? Stupid ass
@MickeyClark faked injury to escape criticism, smart guy
@GioMonaldo right
@MickeyClark Yes... 4-1... Pendu Escaped
@SagorSrkian You're talking about an old man here .. he's Not Ronaldo Of 2008 or 2016 he is an Old Guy now
7-0 for City
Gone for history to repeat as a year ago tomorrow 0-2 to Man Utd and Bruno to score first, very nice odds so doesn't need a big stake.
@Geolardo Utd should have played Bruno, might of made a difference.
1-2 MU win
It will be 1-1..united to score first and silence etihad and city to get a second half equalizer.. De gea motm
Utd what a joke lol K. D. Bruyne with 2 goals and an assist so far.
City 3-1
Under 3.5 goals
Logic says a comfy win for City, but me wants Utd win, well cz of Liverpool.
it's gonna be messy. it's gonna be ugly. it's gonna be hard to fathom. Welcome to Etihad!! 6:2 FT
