Team News

Tottenham
Aston Villa
  • Ben Davies will miss Tottenham's last two games of the season but Serge Aurier is back in training. Gareth Bale needs to be assessed given the sharp turnaround between matches.
  • Japhet Tanganga was given the nod ahead of Matt Doherty at right-back and after a solid display, may keep his spot in the XI.
  • Ryan Mason could name an unchanged side for Wednesday's welcome of Aston Villa, but has a host of options from the bench.
  • Matty Cash will sit out the last two games of the season with a hamstring problem, which should see Ahmed El-Mohamady start at right-back.
  • Trezeguet and Morgan Sanson also miss out, but Dean Smith is hopeful Tyrone Mings will return to the side on Wednesday. Kortney Hause will continue if he fails to recover in time.
  • Jack Grealish could also make his first start since his return from injury having featured from the bench against Everton and Crystal Palace.
  • Ross Barkley will likely play his final game for Villa on Wednesday night as he cannot face parent club Chelsea in their last game of the campaign.

Prediction

  • Tottenham will look to strengthen their grip on a top-six finish when they welcome Aston Villa to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in midweek. Spurs have won all three matches here since Ryan Mason took interim charge and that run is likely to continue on Wednesday.
  • Aston Villa have won only one of their last seven league outings, though that victory did come at Everton in the beginning of the month. The Villans have, however, lost their last six meetings with Spurs, and their last three trips to north London.
  • With more to play for in the penultimate round of league games for the season, Spurs should come away with all three points.
