Team News

Rubin Kazan
PFC Sochi
  • Serbian forward Djordje Despotovic sustained an ankle injury on international duty and is a doubt for this weekend’s match.
  • Defenders Aleksey Gritsaenko and Mikhail Merkulov remain sidelined due to long-term injuries.
  • South Korean midfielder Hwang In-Beom is undergoing treatment for a persistent Achilles tendon injury and is also a doubt next time out.
  • Goalkeeper Soslan Dzhanaev has been recovering from a recent muscle injury and is a doubt for the upcoming visit to Kazan.
  • Joãozinho picked up an injury against FC Tambov and might not be available for selection here.
  • Former Bulgaria international Ivelin Popov will not feature here due to a long-term knee injury.

Prediction

  • After a long undefeated run, FC Rubin Kazan lost at home to FC Khimki last time out in a match where they clearly under performed. Leonid Slutsky’s men are, nevertheless, slight favourites to win Saturday’s match.
  • PFC Sochi returned to winning ways last time out, hammering FC Tambov 5-0 at home. Despite their consistent home performances, PFC Sochi's last away win in the RPL was back in September 2020 and they will surely struggle to get the three points here.
  • Despite FC Rubin Kazan’s slight upper hand, a draw is the most likely outcome.

  • BTTS here and lots of goals. Sochi are good on set pieces, which is Rubin's main problem. Sochi score consistently (scored in 21 of 24 games this season, failing 2 out of 3 times against the same team in Ural). Rubin with home advantage will score at least once too, Makarov and khvicha are on form, and Rubin are good through the wings and individual skill - which is always tough to defend for Sochi.
