Team News

Barcelona
Getafe
  • Luis Suarez is set to go under the knife with a knee injury, ruling the Uruguayan out for the rest of the season.
  • Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets are both back after suspension and should feature in central midfield alongside Arthur.
  • Nelson Semedo and Sergi Roberto are expected to double up down the right-hand side in the injury absence of Ousmane Dembele.
  • Bruno Gonzalez and Jaime Mata are both suspended for the away side, two vital components of Jose Bordalas' plans.
  • Ignasi Miquel will come in at centre-back for Getafe, while Angel will partner Jorge Molina up top.
  • The visitors should double up down the flanks as usual with full-backs, making a tough unit for Barcelona to break down.

Prediction

  • Barcelona have lost their last two competitive games, suffering defeat against Celta Vigo with a heavily rotated side before being knocked out of the Champions League semi-finals in midweek against Liverpool.
  • Ernesto Valverde's side will want to sign off with a win at home in La Liga, but it will be a tough ask against Champions League chasing Getafe at this stage of the campaign.
  • Getafe have lost just two of their last 15 league matches, leaving Los Azulones three points clear of fifth place and in pole position for Champions League qualification.

  • It felt bad that despite scoring messi didnt felt about celeberating .... Among all the barca players he is the one who takes all the responsibilities .... And yet we blame him .....thats unfair honestly

  • @UmarMushtaq Messi didn't score ...

  • @UmarMushtaq Blame him?. Even Brazilian Ronaldo said "When Barcelona wins, its because of Messi when Barcelona lose its because of "Coutinho, Valverde, Suarez, its disgusting. Brazilian Ronaldo was a former Barcelona player too.

  • Why can't I choose Origi as MOTM? this site is broke... oh wait

  • Has anyone noticed how much Semedo's game has transformed in these last matches? he's not a backpass merchant anymore, he grew some balls, he is passing mostly forwards and even attempting some cheeky through balls. He even makes those runs and passes into the pen area like Dembele. I'm starting to love him.

  • @GioMonaldo Hopefully he is good enough. Plus Cancelo is good too. Do Semedo plays as right back?. Looking for Euro 2020.

  • @john2james Eder has to play except of Ronaldo, the key of success the others are not important

  • @Pastore10 bottler fan spotted.

  • @john2james Im not a Ronaldo fan

  • @Pastore10 heheh

  • @john2james Yes ofc Semedo is a RB, it will be either him or Cancelo, can't see them both on the pitch.

  • @GioMonaldo It will be cancelo. Semeso has evolved quite a bit but cancelo is better and younger.

  • That isn't an own goal ......whoscored comeone .....

  • I watched Liverpool vs Barcelona 3 times thinking something change am I okay??? Messi promised us ...

  • @Djey messi gets you la liga, ronaldo gets you ucl with the right team

  • @BSN Notice how he said "with the right team"... LOL. Where have all the "ronaldo carries teams on his back" have gone? Messi still gona win the ballon dor and he has a decent chance to win a couple more while ronaldo had propably had his last good year.

  • @k.1 Yawn. Seeing the same comment everyday when Ronaldo turns 30

  • @john2james he is 35 and chose the wrong team. Mercenaries should be wise on their descision. There is absolutely 0 chance that juventus win the UCL in the upcoming years... They also owe nothing to ronaldo. There is nothing stopping juve from buying a younger player who will score mor goals.

  • @k.1 Ronaldo played 6 CL finals. I repeat 6 CL finals. Every single European club is a mercenary club. Thats why Albanian like u follow Barcelona and US citizen like me follow other European club. Please dont preach ur fake morality here. Support ur local club and then preach about "mercenary" thing.

  • @john2james Simply pointing out that the "different team" argument is very subjective and stupid by being sarcastic. If u are from USA that u must know that no analist in his right mind would try to lowball Kobe or Jordan because they played only on 1 team coached by the same coach. That is a double edged blade my friend. U are the one preaching on subjective things. Nobody should care if a player stays/leaves because that is their own free choice and they suffer the consequences of it. Notice how u mentioned that "ronaldo brings u Serie A" ? Juve have won serie a for 8 years straight and u still insist on ur subjective "variety of leagues" argument. Messi still wining the golden ball (check betting odds if u dont believe me). Maby FIFA should create the "Variety of Teams Award" just to satisfy simple minded haters like urself.

  • @k.1 As for hater, you mock Ronaldo as mercenary for joining Juventus at the age of 35, eventhough by your own standard you dumped ur local football team for a team Barcelona, who is in Spain. Reflect at ur own mirror before you put ur hate messages type online.

  • @k.1 You can't simply deny the fact that Ronaldo is a Real Madrid, Man Utd and Portugal Legend. Soon to be Juve Legend in 4 years. Messi is a Barcelona legend. Considering Ronaldo has the guts to play in different teams and shines and give ballondors, and golden balls in all those leagues are not a joke. No matter how many times you try to minimize those efforts.

  • @k.1 There is no logic in your long post. I didn't say different team argument. I said calling Ronaldo is a mercenary is illogical considering you are an Albanian supporting Barcelona instead of supporting ur local club. That makes you a Mercenary in ur own logic. I didn't say anything abput Seria A or variety of leagues argument, eventhough its clear Messi can't perform outside Camp nou stadium. FIFA already gave fake Golden ball and Ballondors to Messi , the greatest chocker world ever see.

  • @john2james How come you don't support a local club like you suggest the Albanian fellow should? Real Madrid is Spanish u know

  • @jesper Please read the thread fully and then respond. I didnt call any football player Mercenary, but K.1 said.

  • @john2james Said in a sarcastic way after u praised "brave" ronaldo for winning a variety of leagues (also mentioning serie A). My idea was to show u that that argument has 2 sides but ur brain is to thick to understand.. sadly...

  • @john2james Ur are missing my point over and over again. Its as easy to say for player "A" in this case messi that 1) he is loyal thus stays in his team even when they are induring hardships and it would be more logical for him to jump ship as it is to say that 2) he is scared to change his club thus being a one-club man. On the other hand its as easy to say for player "B" in this case CR7 that 1) he is an oportunist or "ring chaser" as they say in the NBA, changing his team as soon as he thinks that he has a better chance at winning elswere as it is to say that 2) He is a brave adventurier who tests his skills in different leagues......... You insist that u do not use the "Variety of Teams" argument but that is all u do or atleast did in those past comments. U also seem to think that the most prestigioud award that can be given to a player is a scam and falsly awarded? What credentials do u have to make such false acusations?

  • @BSN haha where was Penaldo with Juve? Juve is a UCL finalist twice and semifinalist once in the past 5 seasons

  • @CrazyBarcaFan00 While Bottler Messi maintains keeps his record on bottling.

  • @BSN Messi gets you Treble with the right team, ronaldo gets you ucl with zidane

  • @GioMonaldo Zidane is struggling to get a win his second coming. I didn't see any difference from other 2 Real Madrid coaches they fired recently . Zidane won everything with Ronaldo.

  • @john2james that's what I said, CR is nothing without Zidane and viceversa.

  • @GioMonaldo Calm down. Ronaldo won 2 CLs before Zidane.

  • where is the right team now ????!!!!

  • @itisme If Barcelona can wait 5 years to win a UCL and counting, Juventus can wait another year to win UCL with Ronaldo.

  • @BSN Ronaldo gets u premiere league, Laliga, Seria A, International trophy and UCL.

  • @john2james Well, I missed that he just won the UCL with Juve - thought the finale was played later. Also missed he won La Liga every year he played for Real Madrid but then again - I'm not so clever on these footballstats ... :-)

  • ah yes what an enjoyable game i could not even get to see messi score

  • i dont know how the team will ever recover mentally. perhaps with time but it will remain a scar

  • @BarcaPlsLetMeDown It's not the first time and it won't be the last disaster, trust me. We are bottlers and the sooner we accept it the better. Next UCL season if we reach the semis it will be a successful season.

  • This scrappy win doesn't even begin to make up for the UCL disaster.

  • anyone who watched this game... How did malcolm perform?

  • @k.1 He is not a very crafty or skilled player, so what do you expect ...

  • @k.1 He wasn't too bad, but bottled two big chances. He doesn't seem to offer much more than Suarez despite being quicker and a much better dribbler, but I do appreciate the fact that unlike Suarez, he doesn't drop at every touch and he doesn't argue with the refs every 45 seconds.

  • @GioMonaldo Dunno why but i am under the impression that this guy is better than dembele at everything except pace + he is not injury prone. Hope barca do not sell him.

  • @k.1 I don't understand at all why you have that impression. When Dembele is in form he is world class and he already has contributed more to Barca with more crucial goals and assists. I don't remember Malcom delivering any world class performance for us. Dembele is hailed as Messi's successor at Barca by many and he just needs to focus, Malcom is just a good forward, nothing special.

  • @GioMonaldo He is better at passing/crossing (notice how he always gets thr corner kick when messi is out). He is better at shooting by a mile (He can produce magical coutinho/messi outside the box goals unlike dembele). He is MUCH more smarter and seems to know more when to pass and when not to. It is true that he has not producet but he has not been given the chance to. Anyways this is just my oppinion.. I want the team to sucseed as much as u do.

  • @k.1 Off the top of my head I can name at least three jaw-dropping things Dembele has done on the field: that solo chipped goal against Villarreal last season on a counter, that solo goal against Spurs on a counter and that time he humiliated that defender on the right multiple times by quickly changing direction like 4-5 times before crossing (don't remember the match). Malcom has maybe one moment, that goal against Inter, that's all. There is no shred of doubt in my mind that Dembele is pure world class who's just missing maybe some proper guidance and attention from a good coach. No such feeling for Malcom though and he did have enough chances, he's just a real good forward. Dembele is special, he was gifted by the football gods.

  • @k.1 After having just watched a compilation of Dembele's highlights I just realized how underrated he is even by me LOL. When Dembele pulls out the big guns (his dribbling and speed) he is nothing short of magical. Also his contribution to Barca this season has been substantial, he scored the winner in the Supercopa and won us quite a few good points with his goals and ofc we can't forget his performance against Real in CdR. I'm very excited to see him as part of Barca's future and I hope he gets his shit together and takes football seriously.

  • @GioMonaldo I don't think he is a good dribbler at all actually

  • bottler

  • @john2james How did u survive your idol getting knocked out from champions league by ajax? I didnt see you on this website since that day. Must have been hard period for you.

  • wasn't that an owngoal?

  • 0-1 Getafe...possible X-2

  • X2 here easily

  • Why i believe that Barcelona would give them the game and put the 2nd team to play ??? Welcome to La Liga

  • @batman88 la liga is over but i think barcelona will try a bit this game just to maintain some form. also you can blame valencia for their bad form during middle of the season for them not making it to top 4. the draw masters during that time

  • @BarcaPlsLetMeDown Yeah , also we lost easy games like Rayo Vallecano . Hope Barcelona play like they do against us , Valencia still is better team than Getafe and need to be in C.L.
