Team News

Deportivo Alaves
Barcelona
  • Ruben Duarte returns from suspension for the hosts and should feature at left-back.
  • Takashi Inui is sidelined with a knee injury, which should see Diego Rolan feature out wide.
  • Borja Baston is expected to lead the line, owing to Jonathan Calleri's ban.
  • Philippe Coutinho is expected to start on the left-hand side ahead of Ousmane Dembele.
  • Sergi Roberto should start at right-back over Nelson Semedo for Barcelona.
  • Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets are just one booking away from bans for the visitors.

Prediction

  • Alaves are winless in their last five league matches, a run that has seen them go off the boil in the race for European football.
  • The hosts have drawn their last two games at Mendizorroza, taking a point against Leganes and Real Valladolid, respectively.
  • Barcelona rode their luck to win at the weekend against Real Sociedad, but Ernesto Valverde's side should be better rested and more settled this week.

  • Messi had a woodwork this match

  • Not a game that will live long in anyone's memory but potentially very important. The 3 points dispel any lingering idea that the Liga was still in play....it's all over bar the shouting. This gives the manager the opportunity to focus 100% on the Champions League whilst knowing that the insurace policy of having won the Liga is in his back pocket. If I were the manager I would rest Suarez and Busquets this weekend and never mind what the result is.

  • @iluveverton yes

  • Three more points, laddies, three more points and it's ours! Messi dropped a stinker probably bc he has Alisson on his mind.

  • messi awful player no goals in 2 games lol

  • @BarcaPlsLetMeDown guys it's a joke okayyyy

  • @BarcaPlsLetMeDown He only played 30 minutes today

  • @BarcaPlsLetMeDown Who's a better player these days?

  • @BarcaPlsLetMeDown he assisted 1 atleast ;)

  • amazing buildup!

  • I have never seen a more impotent attacking trio than Dembele, Suarez and Coutinho. If you ever feel useless, just think about these three donkeys.

  • @GioMonaldo I hate criticising anyone but is Dembele really any good? I have never seen anything special. Vinicius is better.....much better.

  • @GioMonaldo Suarez is a top level striker and will be for a couple of years to come IMO but he has a huge problem with consistency. Coutinho is great and should fit in barcelona but he playes like a scared donkey for some reason. As for dembele, i think he has the talent but not the brains, he allways makes a ton of bad decesions ( I actualy think that a motiveted malcolm would be better for barca )

  • @GioMonaldo I thought Dembele is better than Neymar ? At least that's what Barcelona's president says ..

  • Sterile toothless stuff from Barca first half....I wonder if Valverde has anyone on the bench who might change a game by making or taking a goal or two. Erm let me think....

  • @iluveverton nope, Gomes is at Everton now. Barca will have to find a new saviour.

  • @GioMonaldo Everton beginning to look like we might have a team............about time too.

  • Messi will probably be on in the second half to rescue the points.

  • I love the fact that Valverde is taking the UCL so seriously that he's resting some main players for 2 games before the first leg.

  • lengelet Jordi Messi rakitic rested ...??

  • @Djey IN my opinion the one who really looks in need of a rest is Suarez. Should have left him out altogether. Perhaps it will be 45 mins of him and 45 of the GOAT. That would make sense.

  • @Djey Yes, they're on the bench.

  • both teams to score and over 2.5

  • There's always a suprise like yesterday with Chelsea, i think today it happens to Barca

  • 1-1 draaaw

  • draw

  • Barcelona win 2-0
