Team News

Eibar
Barcelona
  • No changes are expected from the home side, who are on an excellent run of form.
  • Pape Diop and Fabian Orellana should continue in midfield due to their consistent performances.
  • Kike Garcia and Charles will continue up top in Sergi Enrich's absence.
  • Samuel Umtiti is back from a ban and Gerard Pique should now be fit to start at the heart of the defence.
  • Jordi Alba and Sergi Roberto are likely to start out wide, though Ernesto Valverde may value Nelson Semedo's pace.
  • Philippe Coutinho is expected to get another chance in midfield, with Andres Iniesta also starting.

Prediction

  • Eibar are unbeaten in their last four league games, with their last home clash in La Liga seeing them demolish Sevilla 5-1.
  • One defeat in their last nine top-flight games tells the story for Los Armeros, with Mendilibar's men being one of the biggest banana skins for Barcelona in the coming weeks.
  • The away side have drawn their last two La Liga games, with their form opening the door a crack for Atletico Madrid to feel as though they can close the gap at the summit of the table.

  • Iniesta is amazing but he needs to stop hogging the ball too long especially in the counter attack. He killed many chances by not releasing the ball early.

  • @delllello barca doesn't play counters

  • Chelsea might take it on tuesday. 4-4-2 is not Barca-dna and it seems a lot of players don’t know where their teammates are running when the game is running fast. Eibar put up a high pressure with potential success and the manager had no response (as Lois Enrique in the beginning).

  • @jesper not all... Chelsea is not take it come Tuesday

  • Valverde probably wanted the squad to have confidence going to Chelsea next week by putting out a strong team and getting a lot of goals. But having to work so hard for the points today wouldn't have been encouraging for the team. He put out a monster team and got a mouse scoreline. Eibar played well, but they looked better than they were because Barca played so TERRIBLY.

  • @vfx_superstar Valverde is no braggart, he's a serious professional who knows his job... and knew Eibar at home is a very tough nut to crack. He picked his best XI because losing points would have been detrimental both to their La Liga campaign AND the team's morale to face Chelsea. The got the points, work done. Now they'll aim their guns at Chelsea.

  • @tacuru87 You're not actually disagreeing with anything I said here. Of course La Liga was on his mind. But Valverde would have expected a better performance and result with that lineup. Eibar CAN be tough at home, but not historically for Barca. And with this lineup, they should have had a confidence-building performance and result. Neither happened here today.

  • @vfx_superstar Iam with you

  • @vfx_superstar He selected the squad because he knew it would be a tough game considering Eibar's form, especially at home.

  • @Jesper4319 No doubt, but he probably expected a better result.

  • @vfx_superstar 2-0 is a strong win away from home. 2 goals and a clean sheet. This is not kids football or a video game.

  • @Champion No. Don't look at the result. Look at the performance.

  • Not a Messi's Day. Loose so much chanches, lack of spirit, & late for give pass. Maybe he tired. But, thanks for an assist aniway.. Overall, not a beautifull day for Barca, but the result is very important.

  • @WILA7 When he hit the woodwork after Suarez's play, I think Leo kinda gave up

  • @WILA7 he is saving himself for the world cup.maybe

  • the worse barca performance i have witnessed in long time... if we put on a performance like this against chelse then..god help us!!!

  • of course a man down for Eibar... shocker!!!!

  • @Lechiffre10 yea not like it was deserved or anything

  • no draw for Barce again!

  • @EvaGreen no way

  • Inu(t)i(l)

  • Eibar 2-1.

  • eibar + 1 1/2

  • BARCA WIN 100%. BECAUSE 2 TIMES WAS A DRAW. THEY NEED POINTS. HOWEVER, EIBAR ITS GOOD AT HOME, BUT IN HERE, BARCELONAS PLAYERS CLASS HIGHER THAN EIBAR

  • I can smell a draw here , Barcelona will focus in Chelsea game

  • Messi will not play. BTTS 100%

  • @Cannavaro69 He is playing. Stop spreading false information.

  • BTTS

  • barcelona have never dropped points to eibar ever plus they had a week break so they will be fresher coming into this game so 2-2 seems a bit unreasonable especially if barcelona goes with a strong lineup

  • @BarcaPlsLetMeDown It's reasonable becuase Messi will not play

  • @BarcaPlsLetMeDown They're obviousl.y not going to start with a strong line up since they have Chelsea away 3 day later.

  • @mcpvp42 i am right about the strong lineup so far

  • @BarcaPlsLetMeDown and you were right about the score too :D

  • @Eslam.H.Shaker tbf it was still close but eibar had a man sent off
