  • Anyone seen Renato's intentional and brutal foul on Modrić? Just put this on YouTube: watch?v=S-0Jm7w_7IE That guy is a disgrace, sorry to say that.

  • @Drifter Very true. At his opening season here in Portugal he did something like that at least two times. And the worst thing is that in all occasions he got away with it. Football authorities should give him an exemplar punishment while he's really young, perhaps the bad attitude can be corrected.

  • Ronaldo said, that he hears all the voices of the media and he is aware of the fact that Portugal doesn`t play good or attractice football but he doesn`t care. He wants to get to the final and doesn`t care how it looks. If Portugal wins the trophy with ugly performances he could live with that ...

  • Portugal is not well but still lucky!

  • @ardentprofound so, in your perspective, in the absence of factor luck, what should had happened in this match? Poland, with all statistics but possession against it would win, is that it?

  • LOL Lewandowski said Portugal have more Posession but Poland more Shots. Fact check: Posession Poland !!! 51,6% Average Pass Streak 5:4 Attemps Portugal !!! 19:14 Open Play 16:13 Corners 7:2 Crosses 42:16 Through Balls 4:0 LOL

  • This was the first match Lewandowski's average position was ahead enough of Milik's for the pair to be considered playing in a 10-9 formation, and it was co-incidentally the only match he has scored in and got on the end of the type of chances he likes. If you look at the average positions, barring the switcheroo of Piszczek and Blaszczykowski, it's a standard 4-2-3-1. In all the other games, Milik was either the furthest forward; advanced ahead of Lewandowski in attacks; was too close to him or pushed him out wide. In the 1st half, it was the perfect setup and both Lewa and Milik played well (and more importantly played well in their ideal area of the pitch). For some reason, as soon as Portugal equalised, Poland stopped playing. Not sure why because they were playing enough decent football that they could create chances yet they were passengers for the last 75 minutes of the game (including AET). Ronaldo again missed big chances. He can't afford to miss them against Belgium.

  • @SteveHyland same happened against Switzerland. After the equalize they got controlled for the rest of the match. Maybe they start playing not to loose instead of playing to win, that would explain why they start defending to close to their area. Poland is a good team but they don't have the pedigree yet.

  • I saw it

  • I told u it will be DRAW HT DRAW FT....but ty for ure 3DISLIKES :3

  • Belgium free money to beat Portugal:)

  • @koziol.mutant Belgium? Really?

  • @koziol.mutant Portugal already lost against Croatia and now against Poland, but keep trying... Im sure one day you will get it right.

  • @koziol.mutant First Belgium needs to defeat Wales.

  • @hellreaper True, I'm sure Wales will bring a fight, people can't forget they are the best team from united kingdom =P

  • Dear Portugal and Ronaldo haters --> Feel the force of Portugal

  • @Ojogador I'm not a Ronaldo hater, and I love the Portugese squad, but Ronaldo just isn't at the top of his game. This tournament, you almost have to be afraid when Ronaldo gets the ball. Like "oh no, what's he gonna do this time :'( ". But also, it was a shame he didn't get a penalty (fault by polish player number 2).

  • @jenana So, so true. As a Portuguese I've been feeling this for a long time, not only at this competition.

  • @Ojogador- Portugal were average and Ronaldo was again wasteful. If there was an award for being on the end of the most chances without actually scoring one, he'd win it. Don't think the Poubelle d'Or actually exists though.

  • @SteveHyland I have to agree. Portugal is playing fine but doesn't impress but while it progresses I can't criticize that much. About Ronaldo, he have been missing opportunities which are not normal for a player like him, I think he might be a little bit tired since he played the whole season without a break.

  • @hellreaper Portugal is NOT playing fine ! C´mon, what`s your standard. Even Ronaldo admits that the games are not attractive ...

  • @neumi17 When I say fine, I mean, Portugal is creating chances to score and shows that can win the matches although they don't look impressive in the game style like when they had Rui Costa, Deco, Figo, Simão, etc. I think the players we have nowadays are OK / good and it's a balanced team but it's possible to do better. We lack a lot of tatics when it's about attacking, always use the wings to cross and we are very slow to circulate the ball but I don't think it's a poor football but it's not excellent either, just fine...(The only thing which is poor is my English and I'm sorry about that) xd

  • @hellreaper like i said this euro team of portugal looks piss poor in comparision 2004 euro squad. Portugal maybe playing poor but it matter of time to get themselves in full speed.

  • @SteveHyland I agree neither Portugal or Ronaldo play a good game but still we won and why?because Portugal is mentally strong, unlike England that in key moments finds their way out. Against Hungary, Portugal were loosing 3 times, mostly playing bad but still had the strenght to draw 3 times. Against Croatia, they were the better team so we had to weather the storm but always with confidence that the time would come to score and it did. Now against Poland we started the game loosing and getting controlled/dominated for 15-20 min, but still were able to turn it around. Football is much more than playing well, you have to be emotionally strong to cope with adversity.

  • Time for messi fan boy and barcelona fan go away from this page, CR didnt lose tonight , misses penalty neither Retiring

  • @Vellicahearst No, he just took part in a game where he couldn't contribute anything again...

  • Once again, stupid tournament formula - team without a win plays in semis.

  • I know we were going to penalties. As a Portuguese I know we never stand a chance in penalty kicks

  • @hellreaper oh...w...we....did it?

  • I see no sense in extra times. In most cases teams are just playing for the penalties

  • Renato Sanchez has been Portugals best player in the tournament by far.. Congratulations Bayern!

  • @neumi17 Just needs a serious punishment to control his means attitudes... the hidden aggression are too frequent. Like the one against Croatia, Modri was the victim.

  • @neumi17- Being Portugal's best player, in itself, doesn't mean much but he has shown an eagerness to get on the ball, take responsibility in attacks and dispatched his penalty like a seasoned pro. These are all good signs in a youngster. I'm sure Ancelotti and the Bayern coaching staff will refine his play and if Thiago Alcantara moves to City as the British tabloids say (key word being tabloid lol) then he will get more first team football than he probably expected to in his first season. I personally don't think that will happen considering Pep has David Silva at his disposal but you never know.

  • @SteveHyland I don't think there is any evidence to suggest he is similar to Thiago Alcantra. In fact the better comparison would be with Kimmich or Gundogan. If we lose Alcantra it would be very to find players who plays very similar to him.

  • @SteveHyland Before Thiago moves to Man City Pep will buy Crouch as false 9... The rule is, if it's in the british tabloids, it's 100 % not gonna happen...

  • @neumi17 no love for pepe the guy stop every possible ball

  • @neumi17 Rafa Silva is an amazing player too but the Coach doesn't try him...

  • @neumi17 he was the best Benfica player vs Bayern too

  • wood Jodłowiec for Mączyński = penalties 95% now

  • Hope that Zielinski now comes in and finish this off :)

  • I have a feeling that this game might go to penalties.

  • Krychowiak - new Redondo I think!

  • Despite the results for tonight, Cristiano will not retiring from international football like that 'player' hahaha

  • @Vellicahearst well fortunately for Ronaldo, his international standards are so low that finishing 3rd in a group with Hungary, Austria and Iceland is seen as an achievement for him.

  • @bradley.fcb Well at least Cristiano never gave up no matter what happen, thats showing why he's the best player and that what is winning mentality. " Cristiano : Fall seven stand up Eight!... Messi : Lost 3 consecutive finals : RETIRING. Lol hahaha. dont play football if you dont like to lose

  • @Vellicahearst Ronaldo is just too vain to retire...

  • Both teams sucked so far. Poland with one good half against Switzerland, Portugal with 3 goals against Hungary, thats it. The rest was boring and not worth mentioning. Both teams are no joy to watch. I favor Poland because I think they are less bad as Portugal but it doesn`t matter anyway. Next round would be the end for either team anyway ...

  • @neumi17 Your comment sucked so far. Poland was playing very well if you consider they don't have good bench. They played as a team and gave their whole heart, awesome team.

  • @neumi17 Portugal is just one of the bright moments of the most boring Euro ever

  • @tar88s If you have dark red glasses on, yes. For everyone else it is eye hurting and utterly frustrating, that such a mediocre team that plays boring football ( exception Sanchez) reached the semi finals without winning a single game or showing attractive football.

  • @neumi17 Then you haven't been watching Portugal play. Poland have been very boring and defensive, yes! But Portugal have actually played very entertaining football. Of course it might not have looked very entertaining if you just look at the scoreline at the end of the game. But if you actually watched them play it would be different. Probably one of the most entertaining matches in the Euros yet as well

  • @neumi17 Lol, I agree 100%

  • @neumi17 Ahhh neumi, neumi...You need to be more polite. Good luck against Italy!

  • @hellreaper I heard worse responses on my comments but you are right, politeness is important. But what I said was just the truth so it's ok...

  • @hellreaper no need to be polite if you state the truth.... The truth may hurt, but it sets you free

  • Portugal possess the power to hit but Poland can be hard to break down. Portugal might be slight favorites but neither team has been convincing in the tournament so far. Poland's right wing featuring Pisczek and Kuba has arguably been the tournament's best. What Poland has going for them on the right wing however, they lack in Milik, who is an average striker and his starting berth should be questioned by the manager. Portugal are looking a little confused in the midfield! With Moutinho, W Carvalho, Gomes, Sanches, Quaresma, Joao Mario and Nani (who is now apparently a striker) to choose from; one must wonder- why not leave Ronaldo by himself up front with lots of options to support him. Portugal can strike if they get the tactical approach right. Unless Lewandowski has an outstanding night, I fancy Portugal to advance here.

  • Portugal to through, Ronaldo to (not) score an cry.

  • @civilrape Confusing...I was wondering if I should like because you said Portugal goes trough or dislike because you said Ronaldo won't score and will cry. One thing is sure, If Portugal goes trought, he won't cry :D

  • Poland win 2-1... Ronaldo scoring from penalty

  • I believe that we 'll have a draw! Polands advantage for next round!

  • Poland to advance, Ronaldo to cry

  • @dzvinka Still many messi fan boy and barca fan. dont you feel ashame your hero just retired and giving up mate?

  • @dzvinka Ronaldo to advance, Poland to cry. xD

  • Mystical, Portugal through. Both team to score.

  • Draw and Portugal win. So everybody will complain that Portugal reaches the quarters by just making draws. + Ronaldo score.

  • Ronaldo to score

  • Poland just too good guys

  • Portugal midfield perform at his best with Renato Sanches, João Mário and William Carvalho. Renato Sanches is capable of cover a large area, he provides a single pass option to William Carvalho, helping him when he was under pressure. His forward moves also gives some more freedom to João Mário, when Renato Sanches playing he plays better. Won't be a surprise if André Gomes is replaced by Ricardo Quaresma and Portugal play a 4-3-3 instead. André Gomes is having a very poor performance so far.

  • Maybe for some it seems unrealistic, but I predict a high Polish victory. Today we open a bag of goals. Lewandowski x2, Grosicki x1, Krychowiak x1 (Milik 3 assists) POL - POR 4: 1

  • Good day every one to my sight on this match I don't see any chance that can make Portugal to win this match in 90minutes with their recent H2H the difference is clear that Portugal are no longer eligible of withstanding Poland in Europe championship take a look at their last meeting under Date Competition Home Score Away HT 30/06/2016 European Championship 2016 Poland 20:00 Portugal O 29/02/2012 Friendlies 2012 Poland 0 - 08/09/2007 EC Qualification 2008 Austria/Switzerland Portugal 2 - 2 Poland 0-1 + 11/10/2006 EC Qualification 2008 Austria/Switzerland Poland 2 - 1 Portugal 2-0 + And when you talk about their recent for it shows you that the final is clear (Poland WWDW)- Portugal WDDD so on this match my analysis is that Poland win or draw CS 1-0 or 0-0 and (under 2.5 99% 1X 99% 99%

  • Lewandowski will make his mark on the tournament. Poland Belgium semis. Expect lewandowski to handle Pepe like he did in the 2013 champions league semi final first leg. 4 goals. He will have a brace at least tomorrow

  • @theklatter26 Lewandowski can't even stop a ball properly nor can he out dribble an opponent. He won't handle anything in the form he is right now...

  • Poland has this one in the bag boys. Portugal are brutal favourites. Play down to their competition historically. Poland gets thru 2-0 or 1-0

  • The game was tied 1-1 in regulation and Team Poland will win on penalties

  • DRAW - DRAW

  • With the performances they have given so far, it's a pity there's no way both teams can be knocked out this round. Hopefully Lewandowski will look at Hazard and start playing. Poland to progress.

  • @What4- Tbh, Lewandowski would be scoring a lot if the formation allowed him to do so. He isn't getting on the end of chances he usually buries, Milik is and invariably Milik misses because this isn't the Eredivisie.

  • @SteveHyland Just seen Lewandowski is getting the same number of shots/game as Maczynski (2), almost half as much as Milik (3.8). That can't just be down to bad form, I guess.

  • Huh, really so many people think that Poland can win this? I wish they will, but it seems very unlikely. We struggled a lot against Ukraine(2nd half) and Switzerland(2nd half and ET). We were completely dominated by them. If we let Portugal to play their posession football for too long, they will eventually score. They might not have the best team spirit, but with the likes of Ronaldo, Quaresma, Nani, Andre Gomes, Renato Sanches, Joao Mario ... Simply too much skill for us to handle. If I was putting my money on it I'd go with 2:0 for Portugal, but hopefully Poland wins.

  • Portugal are too young team to advance and they were awaful whole tournament like England. Croatia were due to eliminate them, but played some awful match, but now it iss time to Portugal to be out. Draw is quite likely, but POland to win by1 single goal applies as well inside 90 minutes. Portugal has two options either play like in group stage and risk counters or - most likely-play like vs Croatia but then they will not create enough to win. Either way they are worse team here

  • @koziol.mutant- People say that about Portugal (their supposed youth) but their best players are in their peak- Pepe, Moutinho, Ronaldo, Nani... It's easy to blame age but actually it's the older players who are flopping, save for Pepe (Portugal's defence hasn't been the problem). The younger players who will make up the nucleus of the team come Euro 2020 aren't too blame at all imo.

  • @koziol.mutant It's funny because I have seen all the matches of Portugal and I don't feel that. It's more tlike the result went wrong in the group stages than the game itself. We could have won all the matches by big numbers except maybe the one against Hungary because they were pretty decent, But it was also their amazing day, so they just needed to score and the ball would get in the back of the net, scored 2 goals with deflections, everything they do, it would work...So I think you didn't watched the games but just checked the final score on a website instead.

  • @hellreaper Completely agree. Portugal were unlucky not to score more goals. And they could easily have won all 3 games.

  • You were the shadow to my light did you feel us? Another lost in finals you fade away, Where are you now? Where are you now? MESSI fanboy? Was it all my fantasy? Where are you now? Were you only my imaginary?... Atlantis? under the sea? under the cave? They faded... So lost They faded barca fan boy just faded ~

  • @Vellicahearst r u a ronaldo fan or just a messi hater

  • @loli You can see it clear through my comment right?

  • 1 - 2 Portugal Win.

  • 1 - 2 Portugal Win.

  • Portugal have been showing problems to deal against teams who build a defensive wall around the area and then counterattack. I have only seen the Poland match against Swiss, but I think they play this style very good, and therefore create many problems to Portugal. Now, my main doubt is: Did Fernando Santos learn anything from previous games? We need a fresh/dynamic team that can pressure fast after loosing the ball with Adrien and Cedric starting out instead of Moutinho and Vieirinha. If Portugal starts with the right eleven I believe we can win 1-0 or 2-1, otherwise I don't think so.

  • People are underastimating Portugal. Portugal Croatia was a "boring" match. Tactically, it wasn't. Croatia was favorite and they had 0 shots on target (1 hit the post), Modric barely leave their midfield. Srna was amazing, no doubt, but then you have Pepe, an authentic wall, motm in my opinion, Adrien left Modric pass Croatia's midfield to cross only once and Perisic had to change side cus Cedric Soares didn't let him do anything on the left side. Portugal played smart, I think they were unlucky at the group stage, still with flaws, but unlucky. Ronaldo is a great player, any team would want it, if you say the opposite you're just being stubborn or hater, but Portugal isn't just Ronaldo. I think Portugal will pass to semis and I think it will probably be a match with some goals.

  • Portugal in penalties

  • @RedBlackWhite In my opinion the only way Poland can go trought is by getting a draw and taking the game to penalty kicks.

  • @hellreaper I think it will be a tie game . Poland would like to win but can they weighed the lack of history.

  • @RedBlackWhite You are aware that Poland converted all its penalties against Switzerland. They were excellent. Portugal, on the other hand, has not so many good penalty takers.

  • @Cipo And Penaldo haha. I hope to be wrong

  • So many people going for Poland's victory but do you really believe in that? Can you put big money ammounts in their favor? Or you're just saying what you would like to see happening? I also think Portugal is getting a little bit disliked because a player named Cristiano Ronaldo plays in our team which brings Barcelona and Messi fans to give an extra support to Poland.

  • @hellreaper@hellreaper yeah, not only we do 'believe' in Poland, it is also quite rational. They didn't show their best yet, this CAN happen on thursday, and if it happens, semis are possible. Poland are somewhere closer to be named 'team' than Portugal. Portugal will get possession, but Poland will get their chances. Ig only they can find a way to net, Portugal and CR7 will cry.

  • @jerzydrimmtimm I have seen Poland's matches since the qualification to the Euro and I know they are a good team but people focus too much on Ronaldo but the thing is, Portugal have a lot more good players...Which of the following do you know? Quaresma, João Mário, Renato Sanches, William Carvalho, Rafael Silva (aka: Rafa), Pepe, Vieirinha, Danilo Pereira, Adrien Silva ...And a few more who got injuried like Tiago, Fábio Coentrão, Bernardo Silva...We may have bad tatics that's why we have lack of creativity, always use the wings and cross but still have great players who can do something out of nothing.

  • @hellreaper Also, the atmosphere in our Polish team is really good - this year's performance is the first time Polish team has reached the quarterfinal phase in a major tournament since 1982 - that means a lot for us, we're really behind this team and the players seem to be really down to earth despite the big hype in Poland. On the other hand looks like Portugal is having their classic trouble with lack of good team spirit - when was the last time they were actually looking like a team, not a bunch of selfish players, 2006 maybe?

  • @hellreaper But why would you say that Portugal is going to win? I really believe Poland can win this game, not only because I'm Polish, but after watching Portugese performance in this tournament so far I strongly believe Poland will outplay Portugal - also bear in mind that our strikers (Lewandowski and Milik) are underperforming so far, we could've won the game against Switzerland in 1st half if it wasn't for Milik's lack of composure. Let's be honest - Portugal didn't impress in any of their four matches. Neither did Poland, but at least they didn't concede so far (apart from that "once in a lifetime" Shaqiri's goal) and they're looking rock solid at the back.

  • @kidmaciek I don't know if it is going to win but I find it strange that so many people voted for Poland to win here on whoscored.

  • I think, 2:0 for POL. It's time to show Lewandowski teeth. He bits double. Remamber my words. Good Luck Poland
