Team News

Arsenal
Sunderland
  • Alexis Sanchez is a doubt with a groin problem suffered in the 4-1 win at Stoke and may not be risked, while Laurent Koscielny and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain will also be assessed.
  • Santi Cazorla is a long-term absentee, but Kieran Gibbs is fit to play and should start.
  • Danny Welbeck could start in behind Olivier Giroud in attack, while Aaron Ramsey is also set to come into the side.
  • Victor Anichebe and Jason Denayer were both forced off in the 2-0 defeat to Swansea at the weekend and will be assessed closer to kick off.
  • Steven Pienaar and Lee Cattermole are doubts here, though the latter could start in place of Denayer in the middle of the park.
  • David Moyes is without Paddy McNair, Duncan Watmore, Jan Kirchhoff and Bryan Oviedo due to injury.

Prediction

  • Arsenal boosted their chances of a top-4 finish with a comprehensive 4-1 win at Stoke at the weekend and victory against Sunderland on Tuesday night could move them level with Manchester City, depending on results elsewhere. They have won nine of their last 11 home league outings and should make light work of a disappointing Sunderland outfit.
  • The Black Cats secured victory in their last away game, but have failed to score in 10 of their last 12 league fixtures away from the Stadium of Light. Sunderland have failed to win their last six visits to the Emirates, losing four, and are set to struggle in north London.
  • Indeed, Arsenal are expected to secure a crucial three points here.

  • pickford is too good to play for sunderland he needs a bigger club with a good defence. Arsenal would be 5 nil up if it wasn't for him.

  • Messi with Alexis's statistics would get 10

  • I honestly can't believe we missed so many chances. Based on our season shots per goal ratio, we should've scored 4 or 5. With Man City winning 3-1, it pretty much rules out any realistic hope of overtaking them even if the unthinkable (Watford beating them on the final day) happens. Pickford had an amazing game. I remember seeing Forster's performance for Southampton at the Emirates. That was special and this was almost as good. There is no chance of him rotting in the championship next season. He would be an upgrade for Man City, Liverpool, Man Utd or Everton and if he has another season like 2016/17, will surely be in the England WC squad. He is already considerably better than Joe Hart although that in itself means little.

  • Arsenal 3-0 Sunderland Sanchez MOTM w/ 2 goals

  • PICKFORD had a great game today. Arsenal could have won by more.

  • 3-1 prediction

  • Anyone noticed how these sites NEVER predict an upset? You can look at the odds and make the same predictions as these guys. Zzzzzzz

  • @Red_Card I think Arsenal beating anyone is an upset.

  • Over 3.5 goals and arsenal win @ 4 - 1

  • @shakes this is the game that will cost Wenegr his job, over2.5 and Sunderland win 1-2, dude, i can dream too.

  • This needs to be a case of how many, just in the off chance it comes down to goal difference. We played very well against a tough team at a venue where we usually struggle in the last game, so I am optimistic we can make this a goal-fest. 4-0 or any other score line with a difference of 4+.

  • @SteveHyland- "It" meaning finishing in the top 4, just to clarify.

  • @SteveHyland Europa Europa, down to Europa where u will face Man Utd...

  • @offside hahaha good one...

  • Özil with 12 keypasses ! And even 3 dribbles...

  • @neumi17- Bringing his KP total to 95 (including assists). Only Eriksen (108) and de Bruyne (99) are ahead of him, both having played 3 extra games.

  • @SteveHyland Apperantly Özils 12 keypasses were PL record...

  • 2-0 still joke after 34 shots missed

  • @koziol.mutant Pickford m8

  • 36-6, I associate this numbers with body temperature as a rule, not with shots on goal:)

  • Why was mustafi allowed to play today? Didn't he get his 10th yellow of the season in the last game?

  • Wenger out ! ARSENAL should heave won 3 matches here not one and 1-0

  • Gunners are struggling, a draw won't help them

  • will be more fun, 5-2 or something like that.

  • Hopefully with Sunderland having no reason to park the bus and Arsenal needing to increase goal difference we could see a 4 goal margin.

  • @offside their lost some matches but don't see sunderland winning at the emirates atleast arsenal do have something to fight for
