Chelsea starlet Hudson-Odoi makes best U21 XI in Europe

Here we run through the best rated players aged 21 and under from Europe’s top five leagues from the weekend’s action, including additional information about their Football INDEX share prices.

Goalkeeper: Florian Muller (Mainz) – 8.34 rating

Football INDEX share price - £0.39

Mainz’s 5-0 victory over Freiburg on Friday does not tell the full story. Mainz pulled off their staggering victory despite managing just 30% possession, scoring with all five of their shots on target. Freiburg, on the other hand, had eight more shots in total and also hit the target with five of those. Mainz goalkeeper Florian Muller saved all of them and also made a last man tackle to ensure an unlikely clean sheet for his side.

Left-back: Aaron Martin (Mainz) – 8.01 rating

Football INDEX share price - £0.39

Aaron Martin is the second of three Mainz players in our U21 XI after registering an assist in their huge win over Freiburg. The 21-year-old set up Mainz’s third of the game, ending a nine game run in the league without a direct goal involvement. Martin also made four tackles and interceptions combined and completed 92.9% of his passes.

Centre-back: Felix Eboa Eboa (Guingamp) – 8.30 rating

Football INDEX share price – N/A

Guingamp defender Felix Eboa Eboa returns to the best rated XI after a long spell without making it. Bottom side Guingamp impressively held Monaco to a 1-1 draw on Saturday and Eboa Eboa played a crucial role, even giving the home side the lead midway through the first half. The 21-year-old has now scored goals against Monaco and Lyon this season and his latest one gives Guingamp a slim chance of beating the drop. He won seven aerial duels against Monaco; made nine clearances and blocked four shots.

Centre-back: Francisco Sierralta (Parma) – 8.14 rating

Football INDEX share price - £0.21

Parma held Torino to a 0-0 draw at the weekend and centre-back Francisco Sierralta was the WhoScored Man of the Match. The 21-year-old won six aerial duels; completed six tackles and seven clearances. Not only was Sierralta immense at the back, but he was also a creative spark, registering two key passes and completing one dribble.

Right-back: Aaron Wan-Bissaka (Crystal Palace) – 7.74 rating

Football INDEX share price - £1.75

Crystal Palace secured their first win away to Newcastle since 1998 and right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka was typically a standout performer for the Eagles. The 21-year-old won three aerial duels, as many as his previous three appearances combined. Not only that, but Wan-Bissaka also completed eight clearances, a personal record in a Premier League game this season. The Palace starlet also made four tackles and interceptions combined.

Central midfield: Youri Tielemans (Leicester) – 8.02 rating

Football INDEX share price - £1.48

Youri Tielemans has now scored or assisted five goals in eight league appearances for Leicester after scoring in their 4-1 win away to Huddersfield at the weekend. Tielemans gave Leicester the lead and the Foxes never looked back. The 21-year-old had three attempts in total and made four tackles and interceptions combined in another eye-catching display.

Central midfield: Rolando Mandragora (Udinese) – 7.85 rating

Football INDEX share price - £0.30

Udinese eased their relegation fears with an important 3-2 victory over direct rivals Empoli at the weekend, with midfielder Rolando Mandragora playing a vital role in the win. The 21-year-old scored his second goal in three appearances and it proved the winning goal for the home side. The former Juventus midfielder also registered two key passes and made four clearances to help Udinese over the line.

Central midfield: Jeff Reine-Adelaide (Angers) – 9.21 rating

Football INDEX share price - £0.31

After Hatem Ben Arfa’s wonder goal in Rennes 3-3 draw with Angers, it was going to take some doing to better his performance but Jeff-Reine Adelaide did just that. The former Arsenal midfielder played a direct hand in all three of Angers’ goals to take the WhoScored Man of the Match award. Reine-Adelaide unsurprisingly secured his highest WhoScored rating in a Ligue 1 match this season after scoring twice and registering one assist. He also completed three dribbles, drew two fouls and made four tackles.

Forward: Callum Hudson-Odoi (Chelsea) – 7.82 rating

Football INDEX share price - £5.01

Callum Hudson-Odoi has started Chelsea’s last two league matches and now looks set for a run in the team, though many will argue it has come too late in the day to convince him to stay at Stamford Bridge over the summer. The England international completed six dribbles in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over West Ham on Monday night, only one shy than the Hammers managed as a team.

Forward: Jean-Philippe Mateta (Mainz) – 9.95 rating

Football INDEX share price - £0.49

Jean-Philippe Mateta rounds off the Mainz representatives in our best rated XI after scoring a hat-trick in their remarkable win on Friday night. The 21-year-old’s haul against Freiburg matched his tally from his previous 14 matches combined and brought up 10 league goals for the campaign. Mateta scored from all three shots on target; completed three dribbles and won three fouls.

Forward: Kai Havertz (Bayer Leverkusen) – 7.89 rating

Football INDEX share price - £2.36

Matheus Cunha’s upstaged Kai Havertz’s tremendous volley in Bayer Leverkusen’s defeat to rivals RB Leipzig but it was still another eye-catching display from the versatile Leverkusen attacker. The 19-year-old has now scored 12 league goals for the campaign after notching both of Leverkusen’s goals against Leipzig.
