Crystal Palace Season Preview: Key Player, Signing to Watch, Predicted Lineup and Betting Tip

Crystal Palace are next up in our 2024/25 Premier League season preview as we look back at their 2023/24 campaign, pick out the key player, the signing to watch, predict where they'll finish and make a betting tip via oddschecker.

2023/24 Season Roundup

Crystal Palace looked like genuine relegation contenders until they decided to relieve Roy Hodgson of his duties in February. Oliver Glasner came in and hauled the Eagles away from danger and into 10th, with a seven-game unbeaten run to see out the campaign leaving supporters optimistic ahead of the season.

Key Player - Adam Wharton

Crystal Palace struck gold with the signing of Adam Wharton from Blackburn in January. A lack of competition for his services at the turn of the year was a huge shock with Wharton quickly establishing himself as one of the best in his position in the Premier League. The 20-year-old made Gareth Southgate's Euro 2024 squad to cap a whirlwind 12 months for the midfielder.

Signing to Watch - Daichi Kamada

Michael Olise's move to Bayern Munich is a blow for the Eagles but Crystal Palace have done well to land a player that Oliver Glasner is familiar with to help ease the Frenchman's departure. Daichi Kamada spent last season at Lazio however, the culmination of his contract saw him leave for Selhurst Park. The 28-year-old is a hard-worker off the ball to match his attacking qualities, and he'll be a huge asset for the Eagles next season.

Predicted opening day XI: Henderson; Richards, Andersen, Guehi; Munoz, Wharton, Hughes, Mitchell; Kamada, Eze; Edouard

Predicted finish - 9th

Betting tip

A 10th-placed finish last season was an impressive feat for Crystal Palace, particularly as the Eagles were flirting with relegation when Oliver Glasner took over. Even with the departure of Michael Olise, and question marks over the futures of Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi, they should still back themselves to finish in the top half.

As such, you can back Crystal Palace to finish in the top half at best price 7/5 with UniBet, via oddschecker (price correct as of 11:00 on 13/08/2024).
