Premier League round-up: The star men from Saturday’s action revealed

Brighton 1-1 Leicester - Glenn Murray - 7.17 rating

Brighton ended a two-game losing streak with a point at home to Leicester on Saturday but will perhaps rue not holding on to all three points after leading the Foxes for more than an hour. Glenn Murray gave Brighton the lead in the first half with his seventh league goal of the season. Only Sergio Aguero (8) has scored more times in the Premier League than the 35-year-old this term. Murray also made three tackles against Leicester, having only completed five in his previous 12 league games combined.

Everton 1-0 Cardiff - Sol Bamba - 8.09 rating

Cardiff slipped to their 11th league defeat of the season but they gave Everton a tough match despite barely touching the ball. They frustrated the hosts and Sol Bamba was particularly eye-catching in defence, even making a goalline clearance in the early stages of the second half. The 33-year-old made 11 clearances in total and completed six tackles and interceptions combined. Not only that, but Bamba blocked four shots to keep Cardiff within touching distance of a point.

Fulham 3-2 Southampton - Aleksandar Mitrovic - 9.22 rating

An Aleksandar Mitrovic brace gave Claudio Ranieri the dream start to life at Fulham as the Cottagers came from behind to beat relegation rivals Southampton 3-2 at Craven Cottage. Mitrovic hit the target with three of his four efforts on goal, won five aerial duels and registered two key passes. The Serbia international has been a revelation for Fulham and now has 19 goals across 33 appearances in the Championship and Premier League for the club.

Manchester United 0-0 Crystal Palace - Wayne Hennessey - 8.44 rating

It was another miserable afternoon for Jose Mourinho as Manchester United dropped further off the pace for a top-four finish, only managing a goalless draw at home to relegation strugglers Crystal Palace. They did at least keep a clean sheet but the problem is so did Palace. Hennessey picked up the WhoScored Man of the Match award after making five saves, claiming two crosses and winning four aerial duels.

Watford 0-3 Liverpool - Roberto Firmino - 8.02 rating

Liverpool looked like heading for a point but ran out comfortable winners with three goals in the final 30 minutes. Despite being reduced to 10 men for the last eight minutes, Roberto Firmino still managed to get on the scoresheet, netting his first in the Premier League since September. The Brazil international had three shots against Watford, completed two dribbles and also created one goalscoring opportunity for a team-mate. He continued to lead from the front with his defensive work, completing two interceptions.

West Ham 0-4 Manchester City - Leroy Sane - 10.0 rating

Manchester City are getting stronger and stronger with each passing week, which does not bode well for their rivals. Leroy Sane endured a mixed start to the season but has returned to his best in recent weeks. Sane scored twice and registered one assist in Saturday’s rout of West Ham, hitting the target with all three of his shots on target. The 22-year-old also completed five dribbles and two additional key passes with his assist for Raheem Sterling in the first half. Sane has now scored or assisted eight goals in his last seven appearances for club and country.

Tottenham 3-1 Chelsea - Harry Kane - 8.80 rating

Tottenham have now won successive league matches over Chelsea since August 1987 after thumping their London rivals 3-1. The scoreline actually flatters Chelsea, as Tottenham were rampant and could have hit double figures. Harry Kane scored one of the goals and had another four shots. The England captain was fouled eight times during the course of the match and won four aerial duels, getting the better of Chelsea's defence time and time again.
