Everyday, Football INDEX highlights the five biggest market movers over a 24-hour period. Here are the current five at the time of writing:
1. NILSON LOYOLA (PERU)
The focus of the summer is the 2018 World Cup, which kicks off in seven days. With that in mind, Football INDEX traders are now looking ahead to players that could make a real name for themselves in Russia.
Big performances at the World Cup will not only help their countries progress, but could also result in a high profile transfer before the start of next season and Football INDEX traders are gambling on that happening with their picks.
First up, and the biggest market mover over the last 24 hours, is Peru’s Nilson Loyola. The Melgar defender is one of six players aged 23 or under that will represent the South American outfit, but, unfortunately, is not expected to be a regular start for Ricardo Gareca’s side.
Nonetheless, that has not stopped traders adding him to their portfolios, and his Football INDEX share price has increased a staggering 58.16% in the last 24 hours. At £0.32 a share, Loyola represents a cheap option. However, he is one to avoid for the time being.
2. ANICE BADRI (ESPERANCE)
Anice Badri is a player that England supporters should be paying close attention to this summer.
The Esperance forward was selected in Tunisia’s 23-man squad for the World Cup and his recent performances suggest he will start for the Eagles.
Badri has only made nine international appearances since making his debut for Tunisia in 2016, but he has scored three goals in that time.
In fact, the 27-year-old has scored in both of Tunisia’s preparation games for the 2018 World Cup, netting in 2-2 draws against Portugal and Turkey.
Tunisia have some exciting players in their ranks and Badri is certainly the form player for the African side, who meet England in the group stages.
3. VICTOR MOSES (CHELSEA)
The high profile name in the five big market movers in the last 24 hours is Chelsea wing-back Victor Moses.
The 27-year-old has developed into a key player for Chelsea over the last two years and he will be even more important for Nigeria this summer.
Nigeria’s World Cup preparations have not gone to plan but they are the neutrals choice to do well in Russia this summer.
Moses is a winger by trade, forced to adapt to a right wing-back position to forge a career at Chelsea. However, he will return to his preferred position for Nigeria.
Only Ahmed Musa has scored more international goals than Moses of those selected by the Super Eagles for the World Cup.
His share price has increased 33.75% in the last 24 hours and he should be one to consider for your portfolios.
4. KAHRABA (EGYPT)
The fourth big mover on Football INDEX is Egypt international Kahraba. His share price has increased 25.59% in the last 24 hours but, like Loyola, is not expected to start for his country at the World Cup.
Kahraba is competing for places in Egypt's attack line with Trezeguet, Mohamed Salah and Abdallah El Said and will have to settle for a cameo role off the bench in Russia.
The 24-year-old has only scored three goals in 22 international caps for Egypt, which should further persuade you against adding the Egyptian to your Football INDEX portfolio.
5. JOSIP BREKALO (WOLFSBURG)
Wolfsburg have Josip Brekalo to thank for playing Bundesliga football next season after the 19-year-old helped the German side overcome Holstein Kiel in their relegation play-off match last month.
Brekalo scored a stunning goal in their 3-1 first leg win over the second-tier side to restore the lead just before half-time, concluding an impressive end to the campaign for the teenager.
The versatile attacker missed out on a place in Croatia’s 23-man squad for the 2018 World Cup and will now be targeting a strong 2018/19 campaign for Wolfsburg.
Brekalo finished last season with three goals in his last five appearances and is one to watch in the Bundesliga for the upcoming campaign.
His Football INDEX share price is only £0.91 and should be considered as part of anyone’s long-term strategy.
