Gabriel Jesus has joined Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney in the treatment room at Arsenal. Leandro Trossard could replace Gabriel Martinelli in the starting XI, following his scoring cameo at Aston Villa last weekend. 

Mikel Merino could be in line for his first Arsenal appearance, though it is likely to come from the bench. 

For Brighton, new signing Matt O'Riley was forced off through injury just nine minutes into his debut in the Carabao Cup in midweek. Summer arrivals Brajan Gruda and Mats Wieffer also look set to miss out here.
