Mane, Mahrez and Haaland all star in Champions League team of the week
Manchester City are the dominant side in the Champions League team of the week after their 5-0 win over Copenhagen with Aymeric Laporte, Riyad Mahrez and Erling Haaland all featuring. Chelsea, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and Napoli are also represented in the best XI.
After a 4-0 thrashing at Club Bruges last month, Porto responded with a 2-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen as goalkeeper Diogo Costa played a starring role. The 23-year-old made six saves in total, including a first half penalty stop to deny Patrik Schick, to return a WhoScored rating of 8.51.
Occupying the right-back spot, Reece James earned the WhoScored man of the match award with a rating of 8.93. James directly contributed to two of Chelsea's three goals in their 3-0 win over AC Milan as he followed up his assist for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's second half strike with a goal of his own.
Chancel Mbemba (Marseille) - 7.84
Chancel Mbemba put in an imperious performance in defence as Marseille earned a 4-1 win over Sporting CP on Tuesday evening. The centre-back scored late on against the Portuguese side to boost his score, and made four tackles, one interception and one clearance to help earn a WhoScored rating of 7.84.
Aymeric Laporte (Manchester City) - 7.86
On his first start for Manchester City this season, Aymeric Laporte put in a solid shift in their 5-0 win over Copenhagen. The Spain international found a teammate with 93.3% of his 105 attempted passes on Wednesday night, and won six aerial duels to partner Mbemba at the back with a WhoScored rating of 7.86.
Mathias Olivera (Napoli) - 8.00
The first of two Napoli players in the side rounds off the defence. Mathias Olivera returned a WhoScored rating of 8.00 as he provided the assist for Giacomo Raspadori's equaliser in their 6-1 win at Ajax. That came from one of three key passes, while two interceptions and two clearances capped a fine showing.
Riyad Mahrez (Manchester City) - 9.24
The second of three Manchester City players, Riyad Mahrez was dirctly involved in two of their five goals in their 5-0 win over Copenhagen. The Algerian netted from the spot in the second half and then provided the assist for Julian Alvarez's goal late on from respective returns of three shots and seven key passes to return a WhoScored rating of 9.24.
Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund) - 9.05
Borussia Dortmund eased to a 4-1 win at Sevilla on Wednesday night, a result that cost Julen Lopetegui his job in midweek. Jude Bellingham directly contributed to two of those four goals, providing the assist for Raphael Guerreiro's sixth-minute opener, and followed that up with a goal of his own shortly before the break. Adrien Rabiot had only scored one Champions League goal for Juventus before their meeting with Maccabi Haifa in midweek, only to bag a brace in their 3-1 home win. With a WhoScored rating of 9.98, Sadio Mane is our Champions League player of the week. Mane was directly involved in two of Bayern Munich's five goals against Viktoria Plzen, scoring Bayern's third midway through the first half and then turning provider for Leroy Sane shortly after the restart. Those came from six shots and one key pass, while an additional seven dribbles capped a star man showing.
Erling Haaland (Manchester City) - 8.85
