AC Milan star and Premier League flop among this week's star performers

 

Celta Vigo made it three successive league wins with a thumping 4-0 victory over Cadiz on Monday with Iago Aspas again the man of the hour for the Spanish outfit. He isn't the only LaLiga representative to impress over the weekend, while two Serie A stars feature in the top performers rundown from Europe's top five leagues over the weekend.

Levante utlimately fell to a 1-0 loss at Barcelona on Sunday evening as Lionel Messi struck with 15 minutes to play, but the game would have been over as a contest prior to the Argentine's strike had it not been for Aitor Fernandez between the sticks. The Spaniard made a whopping 12 saves, and won two aerial duels, in the narrow defeat as he secured a WhoScored rating of 8.66 at Camp Nou.

The Serie A leaders had to battle from two goals down to secure a point at San Siro with the Frenchman again key in the stalemate. The left-back's brace came from four shots, while two successful dribbles and two key passes capped a fine attacking performance from the 23-year-old.

Sticking with Serie A, Roma raced into a 5-1 lead at Bologna over the weekend to secure an important win in the race for a top four finish. Midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini put in a shift in the middle of the park to mark his best rated league performance of the season as he came away from the victory with a WhoScored rating of 9.26. Pellegrini bagged Roma's third on the 15-minute mark having provided for Edin Dzeko five minutes earlier. The 24-year-old netted with one of two shots while his assist came from one of two key passes in a fine showing at the Renato Dall'Ara.

The Spanish frontman is the second most in-form player across Europe's top five leagues as he scored one and assisted two in the resounding victory, those coming from respective returns of three shots and two key passes. Additionally, Aspas also completed four dribbles and made four clearances as he landed a WhoScored rating of 9.77 against Cadiz.
