Football INDEX: Time to buy shares in Manchester United target

BUY – SIME VRSALJKO (ATLETICO MADRID)

Heavily linked with a January move to Napoli, it should be a win-win situation to invest in Atletico Madrid defender Sime Vrsaljko. The Croatia international has failed to make any impression at Atletico and looks destined to leave next month but, for now, has been given a chance by Diego Simeone.

Vrsaljko set up Atletico’s winner against Real Betis last time out and will retain his place in the team ahead of Juanfran on Saturday. Atletico host an Alaves side that have lost five of seven away league games this term, while they have also failed to score in four of those games.

The 25-year-old’s Football INDEX share price is only £0.76 at the moment and that will only increase with a rare run in the team for Atletico, while it should sky rocket if he secures a January move to Napoli.

BUY – RADAMEL FALCAO (MONACO)

Monaco will look to finish 2017 with a flourish after crashing out of the Champions League. The reigning Ligue 1 champions welcome a Saint-Etienne side without a win since the middle of October.

Only three teams have conceded more goals in Ligue 1 this season than Saint-Etienne and that should be music to the ears of Falcao, fresh from scoring his spectacular long-range goal in midweek.

Monaco may have stuttered this season, but Falcao has still weighed in with 14 goals in as many league games. The Colombia international’s share price has plummeted 0.29% in the last week, but affordable matches against Saint-Etienne and Rennes should give the 31-year-old the chance to the year strongly.

With that in mind, Falcao is more than capable of reverting the trend and increasing his share price.

BUY – MAURO ICARDI (INTER)

Another striker that has been in red-hot form this season is Mauro Icardi. Only Edinson Cavani (17) has scored more goals than Icardi (16) in Europe’s top five leagues this season, yet Icardi’s share price on Football INDEX has dropped a staggering 7.10% in the last week.

Inter host Udinese on Saturday evening and Icardi has four goals in his last five games against Massimo Oddo’s side. Udinese have proven tough to beat in recent matches, but Inter are top of the league for a reason. It feels like an eternity since Icardi last scored, but it’s only been one league game.

Icardi’s Football INDEX share price has been as high as £2.70 this season and you’d have to back the striker to return near that figure if Inter continue to rule at the top of Serie A.

BUY – ANDRIY YARMOLENKO (BORUSSIA DORTMUND)

Borussia Dortmund earned their first Bundesliga win since September last time out and new head coach Peter Stoger will aim to string consecutive victories together when they host Hoffenheim this weekend.

Hoffenheim have transformed into incredible competitors under Julian Nagelsmann, but they have been meek away from home this season. They have only won one of their last nine away matches and lost three in a row.

Share prices for Dortmund players would have crashed in the last few months and it’s time to invest early before their Football INDEX share prices return to normality. Andriy Yarmolenko has played a direct hand in five league goals in his maiden campaign for Dortmund and it wasn’t so long ago that he was floating a £0.83 a share. Now, down at £0.70 a share, he could prove a shrewd investment.

BUY – WILLIAN (CHELSEA)

Willian is poised to land another chance in the starting XI for Chelsea this weekend as Alvaro Morata continues to recover from a slight back concern. The Brazil international played a direct hand in three goals in the same Premier League game for the first time in 151 appearances in midweek, finishing in the WhoScored Premier League Team of the Week

Not only is it worth investing in Willian off the back of his solid performance, but the 29-year-old has been heavily linked with a January move to Manchester United to reunite with Jose Mourinho. Willian peaked at £1.58 a share earlier in the year and he would be more than capable of returning to that price given a regular run of games at Old Trafford or Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have a kind run of fixtures in their next five matches and will target 15 points from a possible 15 in that time. At £0.91 a share, Willian could prove a savvy investment.
