Now that the 2019/20 Serie A campaign is done and dusted it is time to take stock of a long, hard-fought season in Italy. Juventus were crowned champions for the ninth-straight season, albeit limping over the line with three defeats in their final four matches, while Lecce, Brescia and SPAL were relegated.

Having already revelead our Serie A Team of the Season, it's time to take a look at the best youngsters in Italy. In order to qualify for the XI, players must have been at least 21 or younger at the start of the season. It doesn't matter if they are now 22, but as long as they were 21 or under at some point during the season then they can qualify.

Looking at the XI what stands out most is the presence of Milan. The Italian giants finished the season in superb fashion. They were the only side no to lose in Serie A post-lockdown and only Atalanta picked up as many points as Stefano Pioli's side in that period (30).

Gianluigi Donnarumma is the standout prospect of all goalkeepers in Europe and he is one of three Milan youngsters in the XI. The 21-year-old saved the most penalties in Serie A this season (4), with two of those coming in Milan's final three league matches.

The Italy international is joined in the team by team-mates Theo Hernandez and Ismael Bennacer. The former impressively scored or assisted nine goals from left-back, including six goals, while Bennacer really grew into his central midfield role as the season progressed. In fact of players that attempted at least 50 dribbles in Serie A this season, Bennacer had the best success rate (79.3%).
