Chelsea Injury News: Blues hopeful over Lavia and Palmer

Following the international break, Chelsea return to Premier League action when they make the trip to Bournemouth on Saturday evening.

Reece James

Club captain Reece James looks set to remain sidelined until at least the end of September with a thigh injury.

James would have missed the first Premier League matches of the season in any case, owing to a suspension picked up at the end of the last campaign, but it looks like Chelsea supporters will continue to wait for him to return to action.

Malo Gusto

It remains to be seen whether Malo Gusto will be fit to make the trip to Bournemouth on Saturday, after sustaining a thigh injury against Crystal Palace before the International break.

The right-back then withdrew from the France under-21s squad, but there is yet to be an update on the condition of the Frenchman, leaving him as a major doubt for Saturday’s clash.

Omari Kellyman

Only a number of weeks after joining the club, 18-year-old midfielder Omari Kellyman sustained a thigh injury, with no current return date determined for the youngster.

Romeo Lavia

Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia impressed on the opening day against former club Manchester City, but that is still the Belgium international’s only appearance so far this season.

Lavia suffered a minor hamstring injury in the days following the City clash, but there is an expectation that he should be fit to return to the matchday squad at Bournemouth this weekend.

Cole Palmer

Chelsea star Cole Palmer returned to London after reporting for England duty last week, after concerns over groin discomfort.

The 22-year-old has had the luxury of recovering over the international break, and it would come as a huge surprise if he was not fit to start against Bournemouth.
