Yahoo! Fantasy Football: Tottenham stars set for big Wembley outing

Premier League action returns after taking a beat seat for the FA Cup third round last weekend. Fantasy football users will need to get back on the horse and be ready to go again as there is plenty of money to be won on Yahoo! Fantasy Football.

The WhoScored Expert has entered into the main Premier League £3k Saturday contest, which throws up a lot of fixtures that will be difficult to predict. With most of the big teams playing later on in the weekend, it’s time to put your thinking cap on if you want to beat your competitors and win big.

Goalkeeper – HEURELHO GOMES (WATFORD)

Watford’s form has dropped off a cliff since Marco Silva was linked with the Everton job, but the Hornets have won two of their last three at home and will hope to continue their mini resurgence when they host a poor Southampton side on Saturday.

Only three teams have scored fewer Premier League away goals than Southampton (7) this season and Mauricio Pellegrino’s men have failed to score in two of their last three league matches on the road.

This is the ideal match for Watford to pick up three points in and Gomes looks a safe bet to get some Yahoo! Fantasy Football points for your team.

Defender – BEN MEE (BURNLEY)

The loss of Michael Keane has hardly been noticed by Burnley this season, such has been the good form showed by James Tarkowski and Ben Mee at the heart of the Clarets’ defence.

Burnley’s unlikely European push has taken a massive hit in recent matches, but fixtures against Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham was always going to be difficult for Sean Dyche’s side.

Now they will look to return to winning ways when they face an injury-hit Crystal Palace side, who have enjoyed a resurgence under Roy Hodgson. Ben Mee is a Yahoo! Top-20 ranked player at the moment and is good value to pick up points for your XI.

Defender – JAN VERTONGHEN (TOTTENHAM)

Tottenham start the weekend three points behind fourth placed Liverpool, but have the chance to put some real pressure on Jurgen Klopp’s side before the Reds face Manchester City on Sunday.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are unbeaten in 10 Premier League home matches and will be confident of dispatching an Everton side they’ve enjoyed good success against in recent years.

The Toffees are winless in five matches and have failed to score in three of those. Jan Vertonghen will be confident of keeping them at bay again this weekend and may even look to score at the other end after rediscovering the taste for goals last weekend, notching his first competitive goal since October 2013 in Spurs' FA Cup win over Wimbledon.

Defender – MARCOS ALONSO (CHELSEA)

The 27-year-old is becoming a regular in our Yahoo! Fantasy Football teams and for good reason. Marcos Alonso has scored more goals than any other Premier League defender since the start of last season (12). To emphasise how much of a threat the Chelsea defender is, he has scored as many goals as the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Mesut Ozil in that period.

Chelsea were frustrated by Arsenal in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final in midweek, but can overtake Manchester United into second with a win over Leicester on Saturday, albeit potentially only for a few days.

Antonio Conte is expected to make slight changes to the team that drew 0-0 with Arsenal on Wednesday, but Alonso is a regular for the defending Premier League champions, at least until they can bring in some competition for the Spaniard.

Midfielder – WILLIAN (CHELSEA)

One of the Chelsea fringe players that will push for a place in the starting XI on Saturday is Willian. The Brazilian has been forced to settle for another bench role this season under Antonio Conte but has been in good form of late, earning recognition as a Yahoo! Top-20 form player.

The 29-year-old has scored and assisted nine goals in his last eight starts for Chelsea (five goals, four assists), earning the WhoScored Man of the Match four times in the process. If Willian gets the nod on Saturday, he could prove your more decisive Yahoo! Fantasy Football selection of the weekend.

Midfielder – ABDOULAYE DOUCOURE (WATFORD)

While the Hornets have really struggled in recent months, Abdoulaye Doucoure has still managed to impress for Marco Silva’s side. The Watford manager has even been forced to rule out his departure this month, such have been his strong showings.

The 25-year-old has weighed in with an impressive tally of six Premier League goals this season, which no midfield player currently in the division can claim to better. Like Willian, Doucoure could prove a shrewd investment this weekend.

Midfielder – DELE ALLI (TOTTENHAM)

Despite not hitting the same heights of last season, Dele Alli has still weighed in with a direct hand in 11 Premier League goals for Tottenham this season. In fact, the England international has scored or assisted five goals in his last four league outings (two goals, three assists).

Alli’s WhoScored rating this season is significantly better in home league matches (7.23) compared to his performances on the road (6.88), which stands him in good stead for when Spurs welcome Everton this weekend.

Tottenham have scored three times in each of their last two meetings with Everton and Alli will be looking to add to his goal tally of nine for the season.

Midfielder – WILFRIED ZAHA (CRYSTAL PALACE)

Injuries to key players at Crystal Palace will only increase the pressure on Wilfried Zaha to perform this weekend. The Ivory Coast international has been key to Palace’s resurgence under Roy Hodgson and the 25-year-old will need to perform well again on Saturday as the Eagles look to overcome Burnley.

Utility – AYOZE PEREZ (NEWCASTLE)

Rafa Benitez certainly hasn’t got the team he wants at Newcastle, but for now he will have to carry on with the players that are at least performing well. At the moment, Ayoze Perez is the standout performer for the Magpies after netting three times in Newcastle’s last two matches.

The Premier League strugglers are now unbeaten in three and have won three of their last five matches. Benitez’s side need to take advantage of this good moment to pull clear of the bottom three and welcoming a poor Swansea side should allow them to do just that.

Swansea are bottom of the Premier League with just four wins from 22 matches and look certain for relegation at the moment. Perez will aim to continue his goalscoring streak here.

Striker – HARRY KANE (TOTTENHAM)

Only Ciro Immobile (20) and Edinson Cavani (19) have scored more goals than Harry Kane (18) in Europe’s top five leagues this season as the Tottenham striker continues to go from strength to strength.

The 24-year-old should always come into consideration for your Yahoo! Fantasy Football teams, especially when you consider he has netted four times in Tottenham’s last two matches against Everton, whom Tottenham face on Saturday.

Striker – GLENN MURARRY (BRIGHTON)

Glenn Murray has scored as many times in his last two appearances as he managed in his previous 11 matches combined (2) and he will look to continue that form when Brighton travel to West Brom on Saturday.

West Brom are currently on the second longest winless streak in Premier League history (20) and Brighton have to take advantage of that to improve their own chances of beating the drop this season.
