REVEALED: Title rivals Manchester City and Liverpool the most in form teams in Europe

Manchester City and Liverpool are pushing each other to extraordinary lengths in this season’s Premier League title race, with neither side dropping points in approaching two months.

Liverpool have won their seven Premier League matches, though only the latest six are considered for the team form rankings in Europe’s top five leagues.

Jurgen Klopp’s side dispatched relegated Huddersfield 5-0 on Friday and have catapulted up to first in our latest rankings, having placed seventh last time around.

Over their last six league matches, the Reds have kept three clean sheets and won their games by a combined scoreline of 16-3.

City trail Liverpool in the team form rankings but the only leaderboard they will be concerned by is the Premier League table. After winning their game in hand and responding to Liverpool’s victory over the weekend with their own, Pep Guardiola’s side are one point clear with two league matches remaining.

City have incredibly won 12 league matches in a row and would be worthy winners if they successfully defend their Premier League title.

The criteria for our team form rankings is analysis based on their last six outings, however. In that time, they have kept five clean sheets and won by a combined scoreline of 11-1.

The rise of Liverpool and City in our team form rankings has knocked Bundesliga clubs Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim off their perch from last week.

Bayern slipped to a surprise 1-1 draw away to Nuernberg, while Hoffenheim’s four-game winning streak came to a stunning end after losing 4-1 at home to Wolfsburg. Bayern drop from first to third and Hoffenheim are now in ninth, having previously occupied second place in the form rankings.

RB Leipzig, meanwhile, won for the sixth straight league game in a row but they fall one place in to fourth due to the superior performances of the aforementioned Premier League duo.

The biggest movers in the top-10 are Lille, who jump 14 places into sixth after another five-goal haul at the weekend. Having already thrashed Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain 5-1 in their last six outings, the French side went one better and dispatched Nimes 5-0 on Sunday.

Saint-Etienne and Leicester are also new entries in the top-10, in seventh and eighth, respectively. The former are unbeaten in six and have kept three clean sheets in a row, while Leicester thrashed Arsenal 3-0 at the weekend and Brendan Rodgers’ side have won four of their last six.
