Italy national team decline to continue for Betfair £1m jackpot

In partnership with Betfair, there is a new free-to-play score predictor exclusively to WhoScored.com, with huge cash prizes to be won.

There’s £/€1,000,000 at stake for any player who correctly predicts all six scores from the selected matches, while there are consolation prizes for those who get four or five of the scorelines spot on. Prizes will be shared in the eventuality of multiple winners.

The big difference with this game, however, is that you will receive real money ‘cash out’ offers between matches, so if you’re first four predictions have come in, for example, and you get a little twitchy, there’s still the chance to make a tidy profit on, well nothing at all! All you need to do is set up a Betfair account if you don’t have one already, with a sign up offer of £100 in free bets for new customers.

Every other week we run through our six predictions from the selected matches, justifying our choice for each. With the international break in full swing, Betfair turn their attentions to the UEFA Nations League matches over the weekend.

Slovakia vs Czech Republic – Full match preview

Saturday, 2pm KO

Slovakia and Czech Republic both have something in common in the UEFA Nations League; they lost their opening game to Ukraine. The winner of this match will feel more confident about their chances of avoiding relegation to League C. Neither are in great form but Slovakia will hope home advantage works in their favour, where they are unbeaten in their last seven.

Norway vs Slovenia – Full match preview

Saturday, 5pm KO

Delving into League C, Norway will hope to get back to winning ways when they host Slovenia after losing their last outing to Group 3 leaders Bulgaria. Slovenia, who are without star man Jan Oblak, have started their UEFA Nations League campaign with two defeats, even losing 2-1 to Cyprus last time out. Furthermore, Norway have won both of their home meetings with Slovenia in the past.

Ireland vs Denmark – Full match preview

Saturday, 7:45pm KO

Ireland are already on the back foot in their UEFA Nations League group after a shock 4-1 defeat to rivals Wales in September. Even without Christian Eriksen, Denmark are strong favourites heading into Saturday’s encounter. Ireland have only won one of their last seven matches, a 2-1 win over USA. Even at home they have only won three of their last eight and have failed to score three times in that run.

Netherlands vs Germany – Full match preview

Saturday, 7:45pm KO

Netherlands are still a long way from discovering their best form and face a tough task trying to get a positive result against Germany, even if their opponents are too far from their usual selves. This won’t be a walk over for Joachim Low’s side, but they are unbeaten in the last five meetings between the two sides and they should prolong that streak on Saturday night.

Russia vs Turkey – Full match preview

Sunday, 5pm KO

Russia have surprisingly avoided a natural post-World Cup decline after exceeding expectations on home soil this summer. They top Group 2 in League B of the UEFA Nations League with four points from two games, but Turkey are only one point further back. Turkey are perennial underachievers for the players they possess but did manage to hold Russia to draw away from home on the eve of the 2018 World Cup.

Poland vs Italy – Full match preview

Sunday, 7:45pm

Poland were one of the biggest disappointments at the 2018 World Cup and Italy weren’t even there. These two nations, especially the latter, should be performing way better than they currently are. Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci claims Italy have not made any progress since missing out on a spot in Russia and results back that up. The first UEFA Nations League encounter between the two sides ended in a 1-1 draw and it would be no surprise if the return match did too.
