Bayern Munich go level in the Bundesliga and gate crash team form rankings

Manchester City maintain their position as the most in-form team in one of Europe’s top five leagues after utterly dominating Bournemouth on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola’s side enjoyed 82% possession and restricted Bournemouth to no shots and no corners. In fact, Bournemouth are the first side in a Premier League game this season not to have a single shot.

City had 23 shots by comparison but only found the back of the net once, which is why their WhoScored rated has dropped despite holding on to top spot.

A 1-0 win over Bournemouth was all that City required to take the lead in the Premier League, as Liverpool drew Sunday’s Merseyside derby 0-0.

Liverpool’s strikers are not at their best at the moment and that will cause some concern to manager Jurgen Klopp. The Reds are unbeaten in their last six league matches but have drawn four of those.

Klopp’s side did rack up a huge 5-0 win over Watford in that run, however. The Hornets are considered the best of the rest outside the established top-six but conceded more than 12% of their total league goals this season at Anfield.

While their attackers have largely struggled in recent weeks, the same cannot be said for their defenders. Liverpool are currently on a run of four clean sheets in a row in league competition, doing so away to Manchester United and Everton in their last two outings.

However, that pales in comparison to Torino’s current defensive resolve. The Italians are up 15 places in our team form rankings after keeping their sixth clean sheet in a row at the weekend - a joint-record in Europe’s top five leagues this season.

Torino have won four of their last six matches and are now in a great position to rival Roma for fifth place.

Frankfurt have also moved up places in our team form rankings, albeit not as dramatically as Torino. The Bundesliga outfit are unbeaten in their last six and have won successive games after a thrilling 3-2 win over Hoffenheim on Saturday.

Their German rivals, Bayer Leverkusen, are up two places after bouncing back from defeat to Borussia Dortmund with a 2-0 win over Freiburg.

Bayern Munich, meanwhile, are up seven places. The Bavarian outfit have taken advantage of Dortmund's collapse in recent weeks and moved level with their rivals at the top of the table in dramatic fashion on Saturday.

Bayern won 5-1 away to Gladbach and have now won five of their last six league games. They are starting to hit top form just at the business end of the season.

QUALIFYING RULES

Only ratings taken from each player’s last six league matches are considered, weighted chronologically, with the most recent match carrying greater importance and so on. To qualify each player must have featured in their side’s last league game and started at least six of the last eight available.
