Mbappe the star man in U21 weekly XI across Europe’s top five leagues

Here we round up the best WhoScored rated U21 XI from the weekend’s action across Europe’s top five leagues, with additional information about their Football INDEX share prices.

Goalkeeper: Andriy Lunin (Leganes) – 7.54 rating

Football INDEX Share price - £0.78

On-loan Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin could not prevent Leganes from taking points from Atletico Madrid at the weekend but he did at least frustrate Diego Simeone’s side. The 20-year-old, who has conceded just one goal in three league appearances this season, saved a penalty from Saul Niguez, though was unable to prevent the rebound. Lunin made three saves in total.

Left-back: Anthony Caci (Strasbourg) – 7.44 rating

Football INDEX share price - £0.72

21-year-old Strasbourg wide-player Anthony Caci features in the best rated XI after helping his side draw 2-2 with Lyon on Saturday. Caci weighed in with nine tackles and interceptions combined against Lyon, which is a total he has only bettered on one occasion in a league game this season. He also registered three key passes.

Centre-back: Gabriel (Lille) – 8.05 rating

Football INDEX share price – N/A

Lille youngster Gabriel is becoming a mainstay in the weekly U21 XIs. Lille beat Saint-Etienne 1-0 away from home on Sunday, with Gabriel playing an integral part at the back. The 21-year-old won four aerial duels, 11 clearances and seven tackles and interceptions combined to garner his best WhoScored rating in a league match this season.

Centre-back: Kevin Danso (Augsburg) – 7.64 rating

Football INDEX share price - £0.64

Like Gabriel, Kevin Danso also turned in a season-best performance at the weekend. Danso helped a struggling Augsburg side pick up a valuable point away to RB Leipzig in a 0-0 draw. Danso won five aerial duels; made as many clearances and completed four tackles and interceptions combined.

Right-back: Ainsley Maitland-Niles (Arsenal) – 7.45 rating

Football INDEX share price - £1.62

After a short stint out of the team, Ainsley Maitland-Niles returned to the fold to help Arsenal inflict Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first domestic defeat as Manchester United boss. Maitland-Niles made a season-equalling-high eight tackles and interceptions combined in the 2-0 win, while also registering one key pass.

Left wing: Christian Pulisic (Borussia Dortmund) – 7.69 rating

Football INDEX share price - £4.34

Christian Pulisic has been pushed to the fringes at Borussia Dortmund this season but provided a reminder of his qualities in Saturday’s 3-1 win over VfB Stuttgart. The 20-year-old was only given an 11-minute cameo off the bench but scored one and assisted another to ensure all three points for Dortmund. In that time he also completed two dribbles.

Central midfield: Youri Tielemans (Leicester) – 7.49 rating

Youri Tielemans has made a great start to life at Leicester since joining on loan from Monaco in January and even scored his first goal for the club at the weekend. Right wing: Ismaila Sarr (Rennes) – 8.85 rating

Football INDEX share price - £3.38

After putting Arsenal to the sword, Ismaila Sarr continued his fine form in Rennes’ 3-1 win over Caen on Sunday. The 21-year-old registered two assists against Caen and took home the WhoScored Man of the Match award. Sarr also completed four dribbles, won three fouls and had two shots.

Striker: Moise Kean (Juventus) – 9.10 rating

Football INDEX share price - £3.97

On his first league start of the season, Moise Kean grabbed his opportunity with both hands after netting twice in a 4-1 win over Udinese. The Italian scored both goals from two attempts on goal, while also winning two fouls and completing one dribble.

Kylian Mbappe is the first player in Ligue 1 to reach 25 league goals for the season after netting once in Paris Saint-Germain’s 4-0 win away to Dijon on Tuesday night. The 20-year-old had seven shots in total and completed five dribbles to finish the week as the best WhoScored rated U21 rated player in Europe’s top five leagues.
