Can Tottenham find a way through impenetrable Juventus defence?

Tottenham travel to Turin with spirits high following what was a comfortable win over Arsenal in the North London derby but know that Tuesday’s game against Juventus will be another proposition entirely.

After a disappointing start to the season by their standards, Max Allegri’s side look back to their imperious best having adjusted to the loss of Leonardo Bonucci in the summer. Mehdi Benatia has stepped up to the plate and now forged a solid partnership with Giorgio Chiellini, inspiring a quite remarkable run.

While The Old Lady’s current streak of eight successive league wins is one that has been somewhat customary in recent years, the Serie A champions have conceded just one goal across their last 16 matches.

Harry Kane and co. will have a huge task on their hands to break the hosts resolve this week then, and score what would be a precious away goal.

Tottenham’s record away from home against esteemed opposition under Pochettino is not impressive though, struggling to have the same effect in the final third, which will be a concern against a side as regimented as Juventus. Spurs have managed just one league goal across their away games against the two Manchester sides and Arsenal this season, and Allegri’s defence is on another level.

The positive news for the visitors is that Paulo Dybala is set to miss out, along with Blaise Matuidi, though Claudio Marchisio is an able deputy for the latter. Pochettino will be without Toby Alderweireld again, so both teams are expected to lineup with a back four, with the stronger of the two in Turin set to be the decisive factor in what looks likely to be a low scoring affair.
