Barcelona pair Yamal and Raphinha lead European Team of the Week

 

Barcelona are the dominant side in the European team of the week following their 7-0 win over Real Valladolid. RB Leipzig, Verona, Lecce, Torino, Bayer Leverkusen, Wolfsburg and Manchester City are also represented in the XI. 

 

Peter Gulacsi (RB Leipzig) - 8.08 

 

Despite conceding twice in RB Leipzig's 3-2 win over Bayer Leverkusen, Peter Gulacsi features between the sticks having returned a WhoScored rating of 8.08. The Hungarian made eight saves as RBL inflicted a first domestic defeat upon Leverkusen in over a year. 

 

Jackson Tchatchoua (Verona) - 8.36 

 

Jackson Tchatchoua scored his first league goal of the campaign as Verona earned a 2-0 win at Genoa over the weekend. The young wing-back also made five tackles to play a part in keeping a clean sheet and secure a spot in the side with a WhoScored rating of 8.36. 

 

Kialonda Gaspar (Lecce) - 9.01 

 

Lecce held out to secure a 1-0 win over Cagliari, with centre-back Kialonda Gaspar earning the player of the match award with a WhoScored rating of 9.01. Gaspar provided the assist for Nikola Krstovic's first half winner, while nine aerial wins and eight clearances capped a fine rearguard display.

Saul Coco (Torino) - 8.37 

 

Partnering Gaspar at the heart of the defence is Torino's Saul Coco, who returned a WhoScored rating of 8.37 for his role in their 1-0 win at Venezia. The 25-year-old scored a late winner and made two tackles in a solid showing. 

 

Alex Grimaldo (Bayer Leverkusen) - 8.80 

 

Alex Grimaldo rounds off the defence despite playing in a 3-2 loss to RB Leipzig. The Spaniard netted his side's second on the stroke of half time from one of three shots, and was unfortunate not to register an assist having made seven key passes in the defeat. 

 

Lamine Yamal (Barcelona) - 9.79 

 

The first of four Barcelona players to feature in the side, Lamine Yamal maintained his impressive form to kick off the season having provided a brace of assists as the Blaugrana smashed Real Valladolid 7-0. Yamal made four key passes in the win and completed two dribbles to land a WhoScored rating of 9.79. 

 

 

Maximilian Arnold (Wolfsburg) - 8.62 

 

Maximilian Arnold was key as Wolfsburg defeated Holstein Kiel 2-0 at the weekend. Arnold was directly involved in both Wolves goals, following up his 27th minute strike with the assist for Sebastiaan Bornauw's effort three minutes later, those coming from respective returns of one shot and two key passes. 

 

Dani Olmo (Barcelona) - 9.34 

 

Dani Olmo has made quite the immediate impression following his arrival from RB Leipzig. The Spaniard scored his second La Liga goal in as many outings against Real Valladolid at the weekend, netting with one of six efforts on goal, and hitting the woodwork with another two. The 26-year-old also completed four dribbles as Barcelona maintained their 100% start to the season in fine fashion.

Raphinha (Barcelona) - 10.0 

 

With a perfect WhoScored 10 rating, Raphinha is the European Player of the Week. The Brazilian became the first player to earn such a rating in Europe's top five leagues this season for his performance against Real Valladolid as he not only bagged a hat-trick from six shots, but provided an assist from three key passes on a memorable afternoon. 

 

Erling Haaland (Manchester City) - 9.53 

 

Another week, another Erling Haaland hat-trick. The Manchester City goal machine scored his fifth, sixth and seventh league goals of the season in City's comfortable 3-1 win at West Ham on Saturday, getting the better of Alphonse Areola with three of five shots at the London Stadium. 

 

Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona) - 9.32 

 

Featuring alongside Haaland on the frontline is Barcelona's Robert Lewandowski, who returned a WhoScored rating of 9.32 against Real Valladolid. The 36-year-old scored with one of six shots, and provided an assist with one of four key passes to round off the Barcelona contingent.
