Paris Saint-Germain earned a dramatic 2-2 draw with Real Madrid on Tuesday night, as Thomas Tuchel's side battled back from 2-0 down to get a share of the points. PSG had Keylor Navas to thank for even being in the position to stage a comeback, as the Costa Rica international had a fine display against his former club. Navas was the WhoScored Man of the Match after making 10 saves.

Hans-Dieter Flick has enjoyed a dream start to life as caretaker manager of Bayern Munich after the Bundesliga giants romped to a 6-0 win away to FK Crvena Zvezda on Tuesday night. There were unsurprisingly a number of star performers, including right-back Benjamin Pavard. The France international assisted Robert Lewandowski for his hat-trick goal with a perfect cross from the right. Pavard was heavily involved in midweek, registering well over 100 touches.

Bayer Leverkusen have an outside chance of making the knockout phase after winning 2-0 away to Lokomotiv Moscow on Tuesday, with centre-back Sven Bender turning in a WhoScored Man of the Match display. Bender secured all three points for the German side after converting from a set-piece less than 10 minutes into the second half. The 30-year-old ensured a clean sheet for the away side with 10 tackles and interceptions combined.  

 

Centre-back: Jose Palomino (Atalanta) - 8.28 rating

Atalanta recorded their first ever Champions League group stage win in midweek with a 2-0 victory at home to Dinamo Zagreb. It had been a miserable European campaign for the Serie A outfit prior to Tuesday but they at least had something to cheer about against Zagreb. Centre-back Jose Luis Palomino was a notable performer for the home side, making eight tackles and winning four aerial duels to ensure a clean sheet.

 

Left-back: Jose Gaya (Valencia) - 8.54 rating

Jose Gaya was the WhoScored Man of the Match in Valencia's thrilling 2-2 draw at home to Chelsea on Wednesday after playing a key role at both ends of the field. The Spaniard registered three key passes and completed two dribbles, as well as winning three fouls. Not only that, but Gaya made four tackles. He would have assisted a match-winner for Valencia had Maxi Gomez not stabbed his perfectly-weighted cross wide from four yards out.

 

Right wing: Lionel Messi (Barcelona) - 10.0 rating

Lionel Messi pips Robert Lewandowski as our player of the week in the Champions League after inspiring Barcelona to a 3-1 win at home to Borussia Dortmund to secure top spot in the group. Messi scored once and provided two assists, as well as reaching double figures for successful dribbles for the third time in four starts in this season's competition.

The Germany international scored once from four shots and also completed five tackles and interceptions combined. Tolisso completed the scoring in Serbia in the 90th-minute to cap a fine display from midfield, which also included an assist for Lewandowski. Romelu Lukaku brought up his 250th career goal at the age of just 26 in Inter's 4-1 win way to Slavia Prague. The Belgium international capitalised on a defensive mistake and rounded the goalkeeper to net his first Champions League goal for Inter and supplied two assists, including a spectacular cross with the outside of his boot for Lautaro Martinez's second of the night, in a big win for Antonio Conte's side.


Striker: Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich) - 10.0 rating

Robert Lewandowski's scoring streak in the Bundesliga may have come to an end at the weekend but he is still on course to become only the second player in Champions League history to score in every group match. Lewandowski scored four times against FK Crvenz Zvezda, hitting the target with six of his nine attempts. With 10 goals to his name in the Champions League this season, the 31-year-old has equalled his best ever return in the competition and we haven't even completed the group stage.
