First Leg Recap

Manchester City did all they could to make a hash of the first leg and having taken an early lead through Kevin De Bruyne, were unable to kill the game off. Indeed, despite having ample possession and the better of the chances, Marco Reus drew Borussia Dortmund level with six minutes to go, scoring his first Champions League goal since October 2018 in the process.

Dortmund have every reason to feel aggrieved not to have bagged a first half equaliser after Jude Bellingham was wrongly accused of fouling Ederson shortly before the break and that decision proved costly as Phil Foden scored a late winner at the Etihad Stadium. However, Reus' goal gives Dortmund hope of knocking out the Champions League favourites.

Team News

Football fans are robbed of the chance to see Jadon Sancho line up against his former employers. The England international returned to training over the weekend, but the welcome of Manchester City comes too soon for the youngster. Axel Witsel, Dan-Axel Zagadou, Marcel Schmelzer and Youssoufa Moukoko all miss out again, while Edin Terzic is sweating on the fitness of key pair Marco Reus and Mats Hummels. Youngster Ansgar Knauff was a surprise starter in the first leg and after coming off the bench to score at the weekend, he may feature from the off again.

Sergio Aguero is ruled out for Manchester City as his time at the club ends with a whimper rather than a bang. Aymeric Laporte sat out the 2-1 loss to Leeds over the weekend and will be assessed, yet Pep Guardiola has ample options once more. Raheem Sterling didn't play a single minute of the reverse fixture and his hoping to return to the starting XI here.

Borussia Dortmund vs Man City - Champions League team news and prediction

Portugal's first choice full-back options are among the best in the world, which makes for a fascinating head-to-head when Borussia Dortmund take on Manchester City. While Jadon Sancho up against Phil Foden is the one fans would have loved to see, Raphael Guerreiro is hoping to play a key role in overturning the first leg loss in Manchester.

The 27-year-old put in a disappointing showing by his standards at the Etihad Stadium, yielding a WhoScored rating of just 6.15 in the 2-1 defeat. Three goals and eight assists in the Bundesliga shows there is more to come from Guerreiro and he'll hope to show that tonight.

Comversely, Joao Cancelo has been one of City's most consistent performers this season and earned the WhoScored man of the match award on his last visit to Germany. Having played the full 90 against Leeds on Saturday, Pep Guardiola may elect to rest Cancelo here, but given his impact in every competition this season, the 26-year-old should continue in defence for the Premier League leaders.

Score Prediction: Borussia Dortmund 1-2 Manchester City
