With the domestic seasons drawing to a close across Europe there are some huge matches to look forward to this weekend, many of which involve teams looking to either extend or end certain streaks.

We start in France, and after Marseille dropped two crucial points in the race for a Champions League finish, Olympique rivals Lyon have the opportunity to finish OM’s hopes of securing second spot.

Bruno Genesio’s side are on an outstanding run at present and will be looking to extend a streak of eight consecutive league victories at Strasbourg tonight. The hosts need the points too in the battle against the drop, but if OL could secure all three they would keep their chances of reaching double figures for consecutive wins alive - something only four sides have managed in Europe’s top 5 leagues this season - ahead of the final game of the campaign.

Elsewhere, in Turkey Galatasaray have the opportunity to take a huge step towards the Super Lig title when they host Yeni Malatyaspor this evening. A victory would be their twelfth in successive at home, which would be a record that only Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City have bettered in world football this season.

Moving onto the streaks that no side wants to find themselves on, while Las Palmas are already relegated they will hope to give what little travelling fans they have left something to cheer in their final away game. They face mid-table Eibar hoping to secure a victory for the first time after 16 winless matches on the road in LaLiga. Fail to do so and a run of 17 away games without a win would be the longest in Europe’s top five leagues all season.

In contrast to their Spanish counterparts, Wolfsburg are not yet doomed but they are instead cursing a rotten home record of late that has put huge pressure on their final game of the season. It’s certainly a favourable one, with relegated bottom club Cologne coming to visit, but Bruno Labbadia’s side can’t buy a win at the Volkswagen Arena at the minute.
