With just four Premier League matches scheduled to take place this weekend, could it be the ideal time to play your free hit chip and climb those mini-leagues? Here, we select the best picks for each position ahead of gameweek 29 in Fantasy Premier League.
Goalkeeper: Thomas Kaminski (Luton)
Alphonse Areola or Emiliano Martinez may be the popular picks here, but with West Ham hosting Aston Villa on Sunday, a clean sheet for either side would appear unlikely at the London Stadium.
And while a clean sheet won’t be a guarantee for Luton against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, saves certainly will be. Thomas Kaminski has made more stops than any other goalkeeper in the Premier League this season, with 110, and could be well-placed to earn a bonus here.
Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, are struggling for goals of late, and have failed to score in any of their last three matches, so chances of a home clean sheet could be better than initially anticipated. Kaminski is owned by just 2.2% of Fantasy managers, while his £4.5m price point should be comfortably affordable.
Defender: Pedro Porro (Tottenham)
Tottenham defender Pedro Porro has amassed more points than any defender set to play in the Premier League this weekend, with 94 to his name thus far, despite his failure to score a goal. Porro, though, excels when it comes to making tackles, interceptions, key passes and assists, which would explain why he sits fourth among all defenders for bonus points earned (14).
The Spurs right-back returned seven points at Villa Park last weekend, and registered six in the reverse fixture against Saturday’s opponents, Fulham, earlier this season.
The Spaniard may come in at a 21.1% ownership, but his guarantee of points has so far been proven this term, making him a must-have for your team this weekend.

Midfielder: Son Heung-Min (Tottenham)
Despite missing four league matches while away at the Asian Cup in January, Tottenham captain Son Heung-Min still ranks third among midfielders for total points this season, with 166. That tally is bettered only by Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, while Son’s points per match total of 6.9 can only be beaten by the latter.
Tottenham - and Son - have been in fine form since they had a week off for the Carabao Cup final three weeks ago; the South Korean has been involved in four goals in his last two games, after scoring against Crystal Palace before finding the net and providing two assists in last weekend’s thrashing of Aston Villa.
What’s more, Son was involved in both of Spurs’ goals in their 2-0 home win over Fulham back in October, scoring one and assisting one. The 31-year-old, then, would look the perfect player to hand the captaincy to ahead of the weekend.
Forward: Ivan Toney (Brentford)
With Aston Villa marksman Ollie Watkins an injury doubt ahead of the weekend, the next best attacking option for your side is surely Brentford’s Ivan Toney, particularly given the appeal of Burnley as his opposition.
Since returning from a suspension in January, Toney has netted four goals in nine league matches, while his average points per match total of 4.3 ranks eighth among all forwards in the game.
Ahead of the weekend, the Brentford man is the most transferred in forward in Fantasy Premier League, while among all players, only Son and James Maddison has proved more popular in the lead-up to gameweek 29.
