Salah vs Chilwell - Who is the best FPL captain pick for gameweek 11?
Who is the best FPL captain for gameweek 11? 4-time top 1k and 5-time top 5k finisher Abdul Rehman uses stats, fixtures and the eye test to find the best Fantasy Premier League captain and differential captain for the upcoming gameweek.
Best Captain for Gameweek 11
Mohamed Salah (£12.9m) – Liverpool
Mohamed Salah registered another assist last gameweek, which brings his attacking returns to 10 goals and six assists in the Premier League this season. He has only blanked in one game so far this season and was unfortunate not to have scored in gameweek 10 having bagged a marginal offside goal.
The Egyptian still tops all the attacking metrics with 35 shots in the box (1st), 24 Shots on Target (1st), 13 clear-cut chances attempted (1st) and an xG of 8.09 (1st). He has also created eight big chances (1st) with an xA of 4.86 (1st). Although his goal threat is nothing new, he has clearly upped his creativity this season.
Liverpool travel to London in gameweek 11 to take on West Ham United, who are also enjoying a great start to the season. The Hammers sit fourth in the league and have been good defensively. They have only conceded 11 goals (5th) and boast an xGC of 11.8 (4th).
Nevertheless, Liverpool have been by far the best team in the final third. They have scored 29 goals (1st), managed 134 shots in the box (1st), 72 shots on target (1st), and an xG of 26 (1st). Just for some perspective, that is 5.3 more than second placed Manchester City (20.7).
With the form he is in, he has to be our perma-captain from here on in. Salah is also the favourite to score anytime this week (53%) among midfielders according to the bookmakers.
Best Differential Captain for Gameweek 11
Ben Chilwell (£6.0m) – Chelsea
Ben Chilwell registered yet more returns last gameweek with a clean sheet and two bonus points. He has now accumulated 43 points in his last four starts (1st) with three goals and three clean sheets in that period.
He has had six shots in the box (1st among defenders), with an xG of 1.15 (2nd) and also has an xA of 0.43. Chilwell again looks primed for both defensive and attacking returns this week looking at Chelsea’s fixture.
The Blues have the best defensive fixture in gameweek 11 as they take on Burnley at home. The Clarets have only scored 10 goals (17th) with an xG of 12.7 (12th). Chelsea’s defence will surely be too strong for Sean Dyche’s men as they have only conceded 3 goals (1st) and their fixture this week is another prime opportunity for a clean sheet.
If you fancy taking a punt this week and moving away from Salah, then Chilwell is as good as it gets this week. He has the highest chance to get a clean sheet this gameweek and also has bags of attacking potential.
According to the bookmakers the Blues are the favourites to keep a clean sheet (58%) and also to score 2.5+ goals (48%). This bodes well for Chilwell’s attacking output too. Another point to note is that the left-back was rested in the midweek Champions League game against Malmoe, so is very likely to start in gameweek 11.
