Sancho and Mbappe feature in best rated U21 XI in Europe



Here we run through the best WhoScored rated XI from the weekend's action in Europe's top five leagues of players aged 21 and under.

 

Goalkeeper: Gianluigi Donnarumma (AC Milan) - 8.05 rating

 

AC Milan stretched their unbeaten run to four matches with a 0-0 draw at home to Sassuolo. Gianluigi Donnarumma ensured a share of the points with six saves for the home side.

 

Right-back: Takehiro Tomiyasu (Bologna) - 8.13 rating

 

Bologna pulled off a shock 2-1 victory at home to Atalanta, with right-back Takehiro Tomiyasu providing the assist for what proved to be the match winner. In addition to an assist, Tomiyasu made six tackles and interceptions combined and seven clearances to earn the WhoScored Man of the Match award.

 

Centre-back: Sebastiaan Bornauw (FC Koeln) - 8.39 rating

 

FC Koeln moved off the foot of the table with a surprise 2-0 win at home to Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend, with young centre-back Sebastiaan Bornauw taking all the plaudits. The 20-year-old wrapped up all three points with a late header from a set-piece.

 

Centre-back: Dan-Axel Zagadou (Borussia Dortmund) - 8.54 rating

 

Dan-Axel Zagadou is in the best rated XI for the second week running after turning in another eye-catching display for Borussia Dortmund. The 20-year-old registered a hugely impressive assist, which featured a driving run from deep, and made six clearances to help Dortmund to a 4-0 win at Mainz.

 

Left-back: Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich) - 7.55 rating

 

Alphonso Davies has only recorded a WhoScored rating less than 7.00 in one of his seven league starts this season after helping Bayern Munich record a 6-1 win over Werder Bremen at the weekend. Davies registered three key passes and completed as many dribbles in the rout.

 

Central midfield: Imran Louza (Nantes) - 8.04 rating

 

Imran Louza was the WhoScored Man of the Match in Nantes' 1-0 win at Nimes on Saturday after scoring the match winner. As well as scoring, the 20-year-old midfielder made five tackles and interceptions combined to see his side over the line.

Central midfield: Eduardo Camavinga (Rennes) - 8.64 rating

 

Eduardo Camavinga is the youngest player in our best rated XI at the age of just 17. His stock soars with each passing week and the Rennes starlet even netted his first ever league goal for the club in their stunning 1-0 victory at Lyon. The teenage midfielder impressively completed 89.8% of his passes and made six tackles and interceptions combined.

 

Central midfield: Manuel Locatelli (Sassuolo) - 7.53 rating

 

Sassuolo have drawn their last three league matches after holding AC Milan to a point on Sunday. Former Milan midfielder Manuel Locatelli turned in a strong performance against his boyhood club with six tackles and interceptions combined to help Sassuolo earn their first clean sheet since October.

 

Right wing: Dejan Kulusevski (Parma) - 8.31 rating

 

Dejan Kulusevski played a direct hand in both of Parma's goals, as Roberto D'Aversa's side ensured Genarro Gattuso had a first game in charge of Napoli to forget. Kulusevski put Parma ahead in the fourth minute and showed great composure to assist Gervinho for the winner in stoppage time.

 

Striker: Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain) - 8.88 rating

 

Kylian Mbappe's remarkable form continued at the weekend, as the France international scored twice in Paris Saint-Germain's 4-0 win at Saint-Etienne. Mbappe has now played a direct hand in nine goals in his last five games for PSG in all competitions.

Jadon Sancho is the best rated player in our XI for the second week running after inspiring another Borussia Dortmund victory. Sancho scored and assisted for the third game running to help Dortmund win 4-0 at Mainz. The 19-year-old completed four dribbles and registered three key passes in total.
