Rashford, Firmino and Grealish on the climb in Premier League Player Form Rankings
The midweek Premier League fixtures produced more surprises, as top four sides Leicester, Tottenham and Southampton all failed to win, while the chasing pack like Manchester United and Everton all secured victories.
As a result of some unexpected scorelines, our Premier League player form guide looks very different compared to the start of the week. In fact, six of the top-10 are from outside the top-10 rankings for the season overall.
Before we get into the top-10, it's a good time to remind you of the qualifying rules. As always, our power rankings are based on a six-game period, weighted chronologically with the most recent outing carrying greater significance and so on.
Each player must have played in two of the last three and six of the last eight available Premier League matches for their side. Moreover, only league ratings are considered.
10) Roberto Firmino (Liverpool) - 7.39 rating
Kicking off the top-10 is Liverpool's match-winner from midweek Roberto Firmino. The Brazilian scored a dramatic stoppage time winner as Liverpool defeated title rivals Tottenham at Anfield on Wednesday night. Firmino has now scored in four of the last five meetings between the two side and it marked his second goal in his last five league appearances.
9) Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) - 7.39 rating
Bruno Fernandes falls one again in our top-10 after failing to play a direct hand in a goal in Manchester United's 3-2 win over Sheffield United. It marked only the second time in 13 Premier League away appearances he has failed to score or assist, though he was heavily involved. Fernandes has played a direct hand in six goals in his last six but has not scored in three straight appearances. He needs to be careful or he will drop out of the top 10 completely.
8) James Maddison (Leicester) - 7.39 form rating
James Maddison has also dropped places in our form guide after Leicester were defeated 2-0 at home to Everton on Sunday. Maddison gatecrashed the top-10 after his brace last weekend but was disappointing in defeat on Wednesday. The England international has still managed a direct hand in three goals in his last three, however.
7) James Ward-Prowse (Southampton) - 7.42 form rating
Last week's most in-form player now finds himself down in seventh. James Ward-Prowse has suffered a heavy drop following Southampton's 1-1 draw away to Arsenal. The Southampton captain has now failed to score or assist in their last two outings and his match-winning display against Aston Villa (two goals, one assist) is no longer a part of his last six-game sequence. Nevertheless, he has still managed a direct hand in three goals.
6) Sebastien Haller (West Ham) - 7.43 form rating
Sebastien Haller's time at West Ham has looked bleak at times but their big-money signing has hit some form in the absence of Michail Antonio of late, even scoring a stunning overhead kick in midweek. Haller has two goals in his last six, only failing to garner a WhoScored rating above 7.00 once in that time, and makes the top-10 for the first time.
5) Riyad Mahrez (Manchester City) - 7.46 form rating
Riyad Mahrez has improved his ranking without kicking a ball courtesy of those above him falling. Mahrez was an unused substitute against West Brom on Tuesday but has still featured in two of Manchester City's last three games to qualify. Mahrez's hat-trick and perfect 10 rating against Burnley is really keeping him in contention.
4) Marcus Rashford (Manchester United) - 7.59 form rating
Marcus Rashford helped himself to his first ever Premier League brace away from home in midweek to help Manchester United come from behind to beat Sheffield United on Thursday. The England international should have really had a hat-trick but moves into the top-10 for the first time this season nonetheless. Rashford has played a direct hand in five goals in his last six league outings for the Red Devils.
3) Jack Grealish (Aston Villa) - 7.67 form rating
After starting to fall down the top-10, Jack Grealish has moved back up to third. The England international couldn't break down Burnley in Aston Villa's 0-0 draw on Thursday but was constantly involved for the home side. Across his last six league appearances, Grealish averages 4.2 shots, 3.3 key passes and 2.7 dribbles. He has also been fouled on average 5.8 times per game in that time.
2) Nick Pope (Burnley) - 7.68 form rating
Nick Pope makes his first appearance in the top-10 this season and almost goes straight in at No.1 spot. Just fending off competition from Nick Pope to claim top spot for the first time this season is Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgium international tried his best to break down West Brom's defence on Tuesday night with five key passes and four shots but City just failed to get over the line.
