Watch: Alexander-Arnold misses out on spot in Liverpool-Man City ultimate XI

Liverpool and Manchester City lock horns once more at Anfield today. The Reds are struggling in their title defence and, at the time of writing, sit seven points off City, who themselves have a game in hand over Jurgen Klopp's side. 

Injuries have really dented Liverpool's push for a second successive Premier League title and, sitting fourth in the league, they need to win to keep their title hopes alive. City, though, seem unstoppable at present and come into today's game on Merseyside on a nine-game winning run. 

As one might expect, this Premier League showdown was the focus of this week's Edge of the Box podcast from WhoScored.com and in previewing the fixture, we compiled our best rated combined XI from the two sides in the Premier League this season. 

Injured or suspended players are excluded, which rules out the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Kevin De Bruyne of Liverpool and Manchester City, respectively, while players must have made five or more league appearances this season to come into the reckoning. 

As one might expect given their superb form, it's Manchester City who dominate the combined XI, but it's closer than you might expect as Liverpool just miss out on bragging rghts from this team...
